국문 초록

2025년은 가톨릭교회가 25년 주기로 거행하는 정기 희년으로, 프란치스코 교황은 이를‘희망의 순례자’라는 주제로 선포하며, 신자들이 대사를 통해 하느님의 자비와 구원의 은총을 구체적으로 체험하도록 초대하였다. 본 논문은 희년의 맥락 속에서 대사의 교회법적의미와 기능을 고찰한다. 대사는 죄의 결과로 남은 형벌을 사면하는 은총의 수단으로, 참회와 사랑의 내적 태도를 조건으로 한다. 논문은 대사의 역사적 기원과 발전을 조망하고, 2025년 희년에 수여되는 대사의 법적 근거와 요건을 분석하며, 대사가 오늘날 신자들의회개와 영적 쇄신, 공동체적 연대 안에서 어떻게 작용하는지를 탐구한다. 이를 통해 대사가 단지 신앙 실천의 개인적 차원에 머무는 것이 아니라, 교회 공동체 전체에 유익한 법적 제도이자 구원의 통로임을 밝힌다.

영문 초록

The year 2025 marks the Catholic Church’s ordinary Jubilee, celebrated at twenty-five-year intervals. Under the theme Pilgrims of Hope, Pope Francis has called upon the faithful to encounter in a tangible manner the mercy of God and the grace of salvation, particularly through the granting of indulgences (indulgentia). This study offers a canonical examination of the nature and function of indulgentia within the Jubilee framework. In Catholic doctrine, an indulgence is a means of grace by which the temporal punishment remaining after sin is remitted, contingent upon an interior disposition of repentance and charity. The analysis traces the historical origins and theological development of indulgences, elucidates their juridical foundations, and specifies the conditions under which indulgences are granted during the 2025 Jubilee. It further considers their role in contemporary Catholic life, with particular attention to personal conversion, spiritual renewal, and ecclesial solidarity. The study ultimately contends that indulgences transcend the merely individual dimension of faith, constituting a juridical-salvific instrument that benefits the entire ecclesial community.
