국문 초록

본고의 주된 목적은 知退堂 李廷馨이 정리한 『黃兎記事』의 이본을 고찰하여 관련 연구의 기초를 마련하는 데 있다. 『황토기사』는 기묘사화 때 화를 당한 인물들의 행적을 정리한 수준 높은 筆記[野史] 가운데 하나로, 金正國의 『己卯黨籍』과 安璐의 『己卯黨籍補』를 보완하고 刪削하여 새롭게 거듭난 작품으로 평가받는다. 하지만 서로 다른 두 종의 이본이 존재하여 본격적인 연구에 큰 걸림돌이 되고 있다. 이에 본고에서는 『황토기사』에 대한 본격적인 논의에 앞서 두 종의 이본을 비교 분석하여, 향후 연구에 적합한 텍스트가 무엇인지 규명하고자 하였다. 다만 두 자료가 모두 19세기 이후에 정리되어 『황토기사』 원본과의 관계를 온전히 밝히는 일이 쉽지 않은 까닭에, 본고에서는 두 이본의 같고 다름을 먼저 분석한 뒤에 이정형의 저술 의도와 편집 방향이 잘 드러나 있는 〈黃兎記事跋〉의 내용과 비교하여 그 친연성을 따져보고자 하였다. 그 결과 현존하는 두 종의 이본 가운데 야사총서인 『寒臯觀外史』 등에 수록된 『황토기사』가 문집인 『退堂雜記』 등에 수록된 『황토기사』보다 이정형의 저술 의도에 더 부합하는 텍스트임을 확인할 수 있었다. 더하여 『퇴당잡기』에 수록된 『황토기사』의 경우 金堉의 『己卯諸賢傳』과도 친연성이 높다는 사실도 부가적으로 확인할 수 있었다. 이정형은 조선 중기의 주목할 만한 필기[야사] 작가이다. 그는 『황토기사』 외에도 『東閣雜記』와 『壽春雜記』 등을 집필하였다. 이 세 작품은 인물의 행적을 중심으로 宣祖朝 이전까지의 역사와 사화의 실상을 잘 정리하여, 일찍부터 16세기 중후반에 창작된 여러 필기 중에서도 수준 높은 野史로서 높이 평가되었다. 한 사람의 작가가 이렇게 많은 필기[야사]를 남긴 경우는 흔치 않고, 그 작품이 모두 높은 평가를 받은 경우는 더 드물다. 이정형과 『황토기사』 등은 필기[야사] 작가와 작품으로 충분히 논할 만한 가치가 있고 이번 연구를 통해 이본 또한 정리된 만큼, 향후 보다 적극적인 연구가 이어지기를 기대해본다.

영문 초록

The main purpose of the above paper is to lay the foundation for related research by examining the different editions of 『Hwangtogisa(黃兎記事)』 compiled by Lee Jung-hyung. 『Hwangtogisa』 is one of the high-quality writings that summarize the deeds of the characters who were damage during Gimyosahwa(己卯士禍) and is evaluated as a newly reborn work by supplementing and revising Kim Jeong-guk's 『Gimyodangjeog(己卯黨籍)』 and Anro's 『Gimyodangjeogbo(己卯黨籍補)』. However, two different types of copies exist, which is a major obstacle to full-scale research. Therefore, prior to the full-scale discussion of the 『Hwangtogisa』, the paper attempted to compare and analyze the two types of texts to identify which texts are suitable for future research. However, since it is not easy to fully reveal the relationship with the original 『Hwangtogisa』 because both data were organized after the 19th century, the above paper first analyzed the same and different aspects of the two copies and then compared them with the contents of 〈Hwangtogisabal(黃兎記事跋)〉, which clearly reveals Lee Jung-hyung's intention to write and edit. As a result, it was confirmed that the 『Hwangtogisa』 contained in the 『HangogwanOeosa(寒臯觀外史)』 was a text that was more consistent with Lee Jung-hyung's intention to write than the 『Hwangtogisa』 contained in the 『Toedangjabgi(退堂雜記)』. In addition, it was additionally confirmed that the 『Hwangtogisa』 contained in 『HangogwanOeosa』 was closely related to Kim Yuk's 『GimyoJehyeonjeon(己卯諸賢傳)』. Lee Jung-hyung is a notable writer of writing in the mid-Joseon Period. In addition to the 『Hwangtogisa』, he wrote 『Donggakjabgi(東閣雜記)』 and 『Suchunjabgi(壽春雜記)』. These three works were highly regarded as high-quality unofficial history among various writings created from early to late 16th century, organizing the history and the reality of historical paintings before the Seonjo Dynasty, focusing on the character's actions. It is not common for a single writer to leave so many notes, and it is rare that all of the works are highly appreciated. Lee Jung-hyung and the 『Hwangtogisa』 are well worth discussing as written writers and works, and as this study has also organized this book, we hope that more active research will continue in the future.
