국문 초록

This study investigates the conceptualization patterns of the Korean polysemous verbs ipda (“to put on”) and beotda (“to take off”), and visualizes their semantic networks through the construction of a semantic map. Usage examples were collected from the Modu Corpus, focusing on noun-verb collocations. Based on this corpus data, the study analyzes how the two verbs conceptualize meaning through embodied experiences. The analysis shows that ipda typically represents a cognitive frame of acceptance and internalization, while beotda reflects removal and liberation. Ipda tends to be used in contexts involving the acceptance of negative experiences or the acquisition of moral or social benefits. In contrast, beotda more broadly denotes liberation from various constraints—social, psychological, or physical. By integrating corpus-based metaphor analysis with semantic map visualization, this research offers both empirical evidence and methodological insight into Korean polysemous verbs. The proposed framework can be applied to broader studies on cognitive meaning extension in Korean, metaphorical patterns across cultures, and the development of educational content for Korean vocabulary instruction.
