부모의 범죄 이력이 자녀의 범죄 이력에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구: 부모-자녀 간 분리 경험의 조절 역할을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 영국의 케임브리지 비행 발달 연구(CSDD)의 데이터를 활용해 314명의 아들과 그들의 부모를 대상으로 부모의 범 죄 횟수와 아들의 범죄 여부 간의 관계에서 부모-자녀 간 분리 경험이 미치는 조절 효과를 검증하였다. 로지스틱 회귀 분석과 Hayes(2022)가 제안한 Process macro Model 1을 통해 부모의 범죄 횟수가 아들의 범죄 여부에 미치는 영향을 확인하고, 이러 한 영향이 부모와의 분리 경험에 의해 조절되는지를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 아버지의 범죄 횟수는 아들의 범죄 여부에 유의미 한 영향을 미쳤으며, 이는 통제 변수를 포함한 후에도 유의미하였다. 또한, 분리 경험은 아버지와 아들의 범죄 간 관계를 조절하 는 중요한 요인으로 작용하였다. 구체적으로, 분리 경험이 없는 경우, 아버지의 범죄 횟수는 아들의 범죄 여부에 유의미한 영향 을 미쳤지만, 분리 경험이 있는 경우에는 유의미한 영향이 없었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 본 연구의 시사점과 한계에 대해 논의 하였다.

영문 초록

Using the the Cambridge Study in Delinquent Development(CSDD), the study examined the moderating effect of parental separation on the relationship between parental and sons’ criminal offending. Logistic regression analyses were conducted to assess the impact of parental offending on sons’ criminal offending, and Process macro Model 1 tested whether parental separation moderated this relationship. Key findings include: (1) fathers’ criminal offending significantly influenced sons’ criminal offending, even after controlling for control variables; (2) parental separation moderated the relationship between fathers’ and sons’ offending, highlighting the role of environmental factors in intergenerational transmission of offending. In case without parental separation experience, fathers’ offending significantly affected sons’ offending, while no significant effect was found in cases with parental separation experiences. These findings underscore the importance of considering family dynamics and environmental influences in understanding the transmission of criminal behavior.
