국문 초록

이 논문의 목적은 한국교회 교육신학의 주요경향을 개관하고 그런 경향이 기독교교육의 이론과 실제에 미친 영향을 살피고자 하는데 있다. 한국교회에서 발견되는 많은 교육신학의 모델 혹은 유형들 가운데에서 주류를 대표하는 네 개의 모델을 선택하였다. 1) 자유주의 교육신학 모델: 어린이와 성인을 위한 이상적 목표로서 “그리스도와 같은 인격”의 형성을 강조하는 입장이다. 2) 신정통주의 교육신학 모델: 학습자가 “기독교신앙을 받아들이는 결단”에 이르게 하는 것을 목표로 한다. 3) 복음주의 교육신학 모델: 교육을 “구원의 메시지”를 전달하는 일이라고 본다. 4) 해방교육신학의 모델: 기독교교육을 하나의 “정치적 행위”라는 확신을 기초로 하는 교육이며 여기에는 민중으로 하여금 “메시아적 백성”이 되게 하는 민중해방교육신학모델과 여성해방을 위한 투쟁에 여성들을 참여케 하는 여성해방교육신학 모델이 포함된다. 이들 모델들은 오늘의 한국교회의 기독교교육 현장에 그대로 공존하며 영향을 끼치고 있다. 오늘의 한국교회 교육신학의 특징 중 하나는 윤리적 판단에 있어서 과격한 분열현상이다. 즉 개인구원과 사회구원 중 어느 쪽을 윤리적 지향의 목적에 두느냐에 따른 분열이다. 신앙형성과정에 대한 교육신학자들 간의 차이도 두드러진다. 한쪽에서는 학습자가 “성숙한 신앙”을 갖도록 양육되어야 한다고 확신하는 반면, 다른 한쪽에서는 학습자는 신앙적 상상력을 통해 “초월적 신앙”에 도달해야 한다고 가르친다.

영문 초록

It is the purpose of this essay to survey the main trends of the educational theology in the Korean church, examining their influence on the theories and practices of Christian education. There are four models of educational theology representing the main trends of Christian education: 1) The liberal model, which emphasizes the educational efforts to build the Christ-like personality as it is the ideal aim of education for children and adults, 2) The Neo-orthodox model, which suggests the education should lead the learner to make a decision of accepting Christian faith, 3) Evangelical model, in which education is considered to be the work of conveying the message of salvation, 4) Liberation model, including the Minjung model and the feminist model, which asserts that Christian education is a political act. Emerging sequentially in time, all of these models still remain influential in the Korean church today, showing a grace of difference. One of the characteristics of the Korean church’s educational theology is the radical division between the ethical orientation toward the personal salvation and toward the social salvation. Another is an apparent conflict on the faith-building process. For instance, a group of educators assume that the learners should be nurtured to have “the mature faith” while the other group has a conviction that they should reach to “the transcendental faith” through faithful imagination.
