한국의 무역성과에 대한 물류효율성의 영향: APEC 국가의 물류성과지수를 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 아시아태평양경제협력체 회원국의 물류효율성이 한국의 무역량에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하였다. 이를 위해 세계은행의 2010년부터 2022년까지 물류성과지수와 6가지 하위지표 및 6가지 설명변수(물류성과지수, 인구수, 무역개방도, 지리적 거리, 외국인직접투자, 자유무역협정 체결 여부)를 포함한 중력모형을 구축하고, STATA 17.0을 사용해 APEC 19개국의 패널 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 물류성과지수는 한국의 무역량과 유의한 양(+)의 관계를 보였으며, 1% 증가 시 무역량은 0.864% 증가하는 것으로 나타났다. 인구수(0.514%), 외국인직접투자(0.315%), 무역개방도(0.274%) 역시 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 물류성과지수의 하위지표를 독립 변수로 활용한 추가 분석에서는 물류서비스 품질(0.742%)이 가장 큰 영향을 미쳤고, 이어 선적의 용이성(0.736%), 화물 추적 능력(0.721%), 정시 도착 빈도(0.661%), 인프라 품질(0.622%), 관세 절차 효율성(0.612%) 순으로 나타났다. 이는 물류성과가 단일 지표가 아닌 세부 항목별로 상이한 경제적 효과를 미친다는 점을 시사한다. 본 연구는 종합지표에 국한된 기존 연구의 한계를 보완하여, 구성요소별 실증분석을 통해 정책 수립 시 자원 배분의 우선순위 설정에 기여할 수 있는 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study empirically examines the impact of logistics efficiency in APEC member countries on Korea’s trade volume. Using World Bank data from 2010 to 2022, a gravity model was constructed based on the Logistics Performance Index (LPI), including six sub-indicators(customs efficiency, infrastructure quality, ease of shipment, logistics service quality, tracking & tracing, and timeliness)and six explanatory variables: LPI, population, trade openness, geographic distance, foreign direct investment (FDI), and the presence of a free trade agreement (FTA). Panel data from 19 APEC countries were analyzed using STATA 17.0. The results indicate that LPI has the most significant positive effect on Korea’s trade, with a 1% increase in LPI associated with a 0.864% rise in trade volume. Other variables such as population (0.514%), FDI (0.315%), and trade openness (0.274%) also positively influence trade, while geographical distance shows a negative effect. Further analysis using the six LPI sub-indicators reveals that logistics service quality (0.742%) had the greatest impact, followed by ease of shipment (0.736%), tracking & tracing (0.721%), timeliness (0.661%), infrastructure quality (0.622%), and customs efficiency (0.612%). These findings highlight that the economic effects of logistics performance vary by subcomponent rather than uniformly influencing trade. By disaggregating the LPI and focusing on the Korea-APEC trade relationship, this study contributes to existing literature and offers policy implications for setting strategic priorities and allocating resources in logistics-related trade policy.
