국문 초록

본 연구는 가부장제 가족문화를 내면화하며 성장한 중년 여성의 경험을 탐구하고, 개인 심리와 사회 구조의 맥락에서 그 의미를 이해하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구 방법은 자문화기술지를 활용하였으며, 연구자는 연구 주제를 설정한 뒤 기록 자료, 일기, 블로그, 편지, 회상 자료 등을 수집하고, 경험의 의미를 분석하여 글쓰기를 수행하였다. 수집된 자료들은 삶의 흐름 속에서 형성된 심리적 경험과 가부장제 여성의 역할을 내면화 및 극복 과정을 이해하는 데 활용되었다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전통적 가부장제 속 여성의 역할 내면화는 가부장적 가족문화 속에서 여성의 역할이 어떻게 형성되는지를 보여주었다. 둘째, 중년기 여성의 개별화는 기존 가부장제 내재화를 넘어서 자기 정체성을 새롭게 구축하는 적극적인 과정이었다. 셋째, 경직된 가부장적 가족구조에서 성장한 자녀는 가족 규칙에 순응하거나 반기를 드는 양가적 반응을 형성한다. 넷째, 경험에 기초한 성찰적 글쓰기는 자신의 경험 세계 안으로 들어가 재경험 과정을 거친다. 즉, 개인이 겪는 심리적 어려움은 성장 환경, 사회 구조 및 시대적 흐름 속에서 함께 형성된 것임을 자각하게 되었고, 개인의 내면에서 원인을 찾기보다 이를 사회적 맥락 속에서 이해해야 할 필요성을 인식하게 되었다.

영문 초록

This study examined the experiences of a middle-aged woman who internalized patriarchal family culture, with the aim of understanding these experiences within the context of individual psychology and social structures. An autoethnographic approach was employed. Personal records, diaries, blog posts, letters, and recollections were collected and analyzed to explore the meanings embedded in these experiences. The data were used to understand the psychological experiences shaped over time and the process of internalizing and overcoming patriarchal female roles. The findings of this study are as follows. First, the internalization of women’s roles within traditional patriarchal family structures revealed how such roles are shaped by patriarchal family culture. Second, the individualization process of middle-aged women involved the active reconstruction of identity beyond internalized patriarchal values. Third, children raised in rigid patriarchal families developed ambivalent responses, either conforming to or resisting family rules. Fourth, reflective writing based on personal experience enabled re-experiencing and reflection, fostering awareness that personal psychological difficulties are shaped not only by internal factors but also by social structures and historical contexts. This study suggests the need for a more multidimensional understanding of clients’ psychological issues in counseling and demonstrates the potential of autoethnography for connecting personal experiences with socio-cultural contexts.
