국문 초록

본 연구는 원전의 위험에도 불구하고 한국 사회에서 원전에 대한 의존성이 지속 및 강화되는 현상을 일종의 사회-물질적 연결망 속에서 나타나는 신물질주의적 학습 과정으로 포착하고 해석하고자 했다. 여기에서 원전은 한국이라는 근대화 사회의 사회물질적 연결망 깊숙이에 안착되어 끊임없이 재연결되고 재생성된다. 연구에서는 원전을 중심으로 연결된 사물, 제도, 관념, 기호, 마음 등을 포괄하는 사회물질 체계를 원전 체계라고 이름하며, 이 원전 체계가 한국 근대화 담론과 실천 속에 형성되어 끊임없이 재생성되고 순환하는 과정이 곧 학습의 과정이라고 보았다. 본 연구는 탈원전에 강력히 반대했던 산업화 세대이자 태극기 집회 참가자 4인과의 주제 중심 생애사 인터뷰를 분석 및 해석하며 참여자들에게 있어서 원전이 단순히 전기 생산 도구의 차원을 넘어 한국의 고도성장 및 근대화를 이끌었던 물신화된 행위성을 가진다는 것을 보여준다. 또한 참여자들의 삶을 통하여 원전 체계가 어떻게 근대화의 체계에 얽혀 배치되어왔는지, 그 체계는 어떻게 형성되었고 어떻게 지속적으로 재생성 및 진화해나가고 있는지, 즉 학습되고 있는지를 살펴 원전을 둘러싼 개인적·사회적·물질적 변화를 학습의 차원에서 바라보고자 하였다.

영문 초록

This study examines the persistence and intensification of dependence on nuclear power in Korean society despite the risks of nuclear power plant as a social and collective learning process in new materialist perspective. In this perspective, nuclear power plant is deeply embedded in the sociomaterial connections of Korean modern society and is constantly reconnected and regenerated. The sociomaterial system that includes objects, institutions, ideas, symbols, and minds connected around nuclear power plants is called the nuclear power plant assemblage, and the process by which this assemblage is formed in the discourse and practice of modernization in Korea and is constantly regenerated and circulated is a process of learning. This study analyzes and interprets thematic life history interviews with four participants, who is old and conservative, classified as industrialization generation, and who strongly opposed nuclear phase-out policy, and shows that for them, nuclear power plants were more than just a tool for generating electricity, but had a materialized agency that led to Korea's high growth and modernization. Through an analysis of participants' lived experiences, this study investigates the interplay between the nuclear power system and the discourses and practices of modernization. It explores how the system has been historically shaped, continuously reconstructed, and evolved—conceptualized as a process of learning—to understand the personal, social, and material transformations associated with nuclear power.
