영농실천공동체에서 승계형 청년농업인의 학습에 관한 내러티브 분석

국문 초록

청년농업인은 농가인구의 감소에 따른 농업의 유지·발전에 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 이에 정부는 농업인력 육성을 위해 청년농업인 지원정책을 시행하고 있지만 주로 창업형에 초점을 맞추고 있다. 단순히 지원정책의 대상을 넘어 승계농은 가업의 승계라는 점에 관심을 가질 필요가 있다. 승계농이 가업인 농업을 승계하는 과정에는 어린 시절부터 현재까지의 영농상황에서의 경험이 중요한 기제로 작용하고 있기 때문이다. 이들의 영농 활동 경험이 영농실천공동체의 참여에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지, 그리고 영농실천공동체에서 어떠한 경험을 통해 합법적 주변참여자에서 전임참여자로 성장해 가는지 살펴보기 위해 내러티브 연구를 진행하였다. 연구 결과, 연구 참여자들이 성장하는 과정에서 ‘그냥, ’당연하게‘ 경험한 영농 활동은 그들에게 자연스럽게 체화되어 있었고, 결국 농업승계에 영향을 미쳤다. 영농의 공간인 논과 밭, 축사 등에서 경험을 통해 축적된 감각은 이후 승계농의 영농 활동에서 실천적 행위를 통해 능숙함으로 실현될 때 학습을 경험하게 되었다. 또한 이들은 실천을 통해 공동체의 경계 밖 주변부에서 중심부로 이동하는 과정에서 정체성의 변화를 확인할 수 있었다. 영농실천공동체의 구성원인 가족과의 지속적인 상호작용과 실천을 통해 농업경영인으로 정체성을 찾고 성장해 가고 있다.

영문 초록

Young farmers play an important role in maintaining and developing agriculture due to the decline in the farming population. Accordingly, the government is implementing policies to support young farmers to foster agricultural manpower, but they are mainly focused on entrepreneurship. Beyond the simple target of support policies, we need to pay attention to the fact that succession farmers are successors to the family business. This is because the experience of farming situations from childhood to the present plays an important role in the process of succession farmers succeeding their family business. We conducted a narrative study to examine how their farming experience affects their participation in farming practice communities and how they grow from legitimate peripheral participants to full participants through experiences in farming practice communities. The results of the study showed that the farming activities that the research participants experienced ‘just like that’ and ‘naturally’ during their growth process were naturally embodied in them and ultimately influenced their agricultural succession. The senses accumulated through experience in the farming spaces such as rice paddies, fields, and livestock sheds were then realized as skills through practical actions in the farming activities of the successor farmers, resulting in learning experiences. In addition, they were able to confirm changes in their identity in the process of moving from the periphery to the center outside the community boundaries through practice. They are finding their identity and growing as agricultural managers through continuous interaction and practice with their families, who are members of the farming practice community.
