국문 초록

본 연구는 북한이주민 가족의 적응과 가족관계의 변화를 조사하였다. 본 연구의 주된 자료는 2004년 6~7월에 306명의 결혼 유경험 성인들을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사로부터 수집되었다. 추가 자료는 20명을 대상으로 심층면접을 실시하여 수집하였다. 연구결과 북한이주민 가족은 남한사회 적응 과정에서 실업과 저소득, 사회적 고립감, 문화 및 심리적 부적응, 가족이산과 가족구성원간 갈등, 법률문제, 질병 및 건강문제 등의 문제를 경험한다. 그러나 이런 문제들에도 불구하고 가족응집력과 결속력정도는 전반적으로 높다. 가족구성원들은 새로운 환경에 적응하기 위해 각자의 역할을 조정한다. 남한생활에서 배우자의 역할과 기여도면에서는 남녀 모두 자신들의 배우자의 역할에 대해 상당히 긍정적으로 평가한다. 상대적으로 자녀의 양육 및 교육문제, 의논상대역할, 경제적 역할 등에서 아내의 역할과 영향력이 증가한다.

영문 초록

This study examined the social adaptation of North Korean families and changes in family relations over the course of their adaptation to South Korean society. The primary data for this study came from a sample survey of 306 North Korean adult migrants who were either married at the time of the survey or who had been married previously. The survey was conducted in June and July of 2004 by using standardized questionnaires. Additional data was collected by using information collected from in-depth interviews with 20 respondents. Research results show that despite many economic, social, psychological and health problems, North Korean families living in South Korea maintain high levels of family cohesion and solidarity. Family members adjust their roles so that they may adapt to new environments, and the role and influence of women as mothers and wives has increased during the course of their adaptation.
