국문 초록

압바스 키아로스타미의 <내 친구의 집은 어디인가>, <그리고 삶은 계속된다>, <올리브 나무 사이로>는 흔히 ‘지그재그 3부작’이라고 불린다. 본 논문은 지그재그 3부작의 서사구조를 분석하고, 이를 통해 세 편의 영화에 대한 새로운 시각을제시하고자 한다. 세 영화의 서사구조는 두 가지 특징으로 정리할 수 있다. 하나는 탐색담 형식을 띤 반복적 구조이며, 다른 하나는 현실과 허구로 이루어진 중층적 구조이다. 반복 구조는 각 영화 내에서 주로 발견되며, 통상적인 기승전결의드라마 구조를 대체하는 키아로스타미 영화의 기본적 내러티브 구조를 이룬다. 반복 구조에서 가장 중요한 것은 어떻게 반복으로부터 벗어나 결말에 도달하느냐인데, 지그재그 3부작에서 반복의 해소는 두 가지 방식으로 이루어진다. 하나는 영화 내적인 방식으로, 주인공이 스스로 반복적인 탐색을 중단하고 다른 길을모색하는 것이다. 다른 방식은 탐색의 과정에서 주인공의 목표보다 중요한 것을관객에게 전달하는 방법이다. 또 다른 내러티브 구조인 현실과 허구의 중첩은 세편의 영화를 가로지르며 이루어진다. 두 번째 영화는 첫 번째 영화가 허구임을드러내고 세 번째 영화는 두 번째 영화가 허구임을 드러내어, 결과적으로 세 편의 영화는 3개의 허구와 영화가 도달할 수 없는 현실이라는 4단계의 중층적 구조를 만들어낸다. 그러나 각 영화에는 이 구조를 벗어나는 예외적인 요소가 존재하며, 이를 통해 관객은 현실이 아닌 라캉적 의미의 실재에 도달하게 된다.

영문 초록

This study is an analysis of the narrative structure of Abbas Kiarostami’s three films, Where Is the Friend’s Home?, And Life Goes on... and Through the Olive Trees, called The Koker Trilogy as a whole. The trilogy’s narrative structure has two characteristics: repetitive structure in the quest narrative and the multi-layered structure composed of the reality and fictions. Repetitive structure is located at the level of each film, because the quest narravitive is one of the fundamental narrative structures of Kiarostami’s films. The most important point of the repetitive structure is how to get out of the repetition, and there are two ways of escape from repetion in The Koker Trilogy: first, that the protagonist stops the quest and finds another way to reach the goal out of the quest; second, that during the quest the spectator gets at the ‘goal of the film’ designed by the filmmaker, so that the goal of the quest becomes no longer important. The other narrative structure, superposition of the reality and fictions, is located the level of the totality of three films. The second film highlights the fist one is just a fiction, and the third one does the same thing to the second one. The result of this operation is a multi-layered structure composed of three fictions and one reality which is untouchable by means of cinema. But each film has the elements which escape from this structure, by which the trilogy does not reach the reality but “the real” in Lacanian sense.
