지적장애아 부모의 양육스트레스와 대처방식

국문 초록

이 연구는 지적장애아를 양육하면서 겪는 부모의 스트레스 정도와 대처방식, 스트레스 요인과 대처방식간의 상관을 알아보는 조사연구이다. 연구대상은 대구광역시 소재 특수학교학부모 108명이다. 연구결과는 첫째, 지적장애아 부모의 스트레스는 아동 및 예후로 인한 스트레스가 가장 높고, 사회·경제적 스트레스, 배우자 및 가족관계, 신체적, 아이가 주는 용기 순으로 나타난다. 배경변인에 따른 스트레스 수준은 어머니보다 아버지가, 종교가 없을 때, 자녀가 여아일 때 스트레스 수준이 높다. 둘째, 스트레스 대처방식은 정서적 진정대처를 가장 많이 사용하고 배경변인에 따른 대처방식은 어머니보다 아버지가, 학력이 낮을수록, 종교가 있을 때, 아동의 장애가 경도이고 남아일 때 대처수준이 높다. 셋째, 스트레스 요인과 대처방식 간에는 비교적 상호 관련성을 보인다. 부모의 스트레스 수준이 높을수록 소극적 철수, 정서표출, 동화(양보), 체념, 자기비탄, 정서적 지원추구의 대처방식을 많이 사용한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzed the characteristics of the parents' stress and their coping mechanisms by using the Parenting Stress Scales by Her Jung Ok(2007) and the Multidimensional Coping Scale by Cheon et al(1994). The conclusions drawn through this study are as follows. First, the stress of parents with intellectual disabilities varies with meaningful differences with respect to the background variables about stresses : parents' gender, religious belief, and children's gender. The parents of children with intellectual disabilities show the significantly high levels in the area of children's situation. Second, parents' academic background, gender, and religious belief, made a difference in the stress-coping mechanisms of the parents with intellectual disabilities. Third, there are meaningful correlations between total stresses and stress-coping mechanisms of the parents with intellectual disabilities. However, the stress and stress-coping mechanisms of the parents with intellectual disabilities have no correlation in general. Thus, it is recommended that a further research be conducted to obtain desired conclusions.
