개선율 차이 기법을 활용한 그림교환 의사소통 체계(PECS) 중재 메타분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 특수교육에서의 PECS 적용 단일대상 실험연구를 메타분석하고 중재 효과를 제시하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 이를 위해 국내 특수교육에서 PECS 관련 실험연구를 조사하여 8편의 분석대상 문헌을 선정하였고 분석변인을 검토하였다. 그리고 최근 단일대상연구의 효과크기로 주목받고 있는 개선율 차이 기법을 사용하여 변인에 따라 중재효과를 분석하였다. 분석을 통한 주요결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 국내 PECS 중재는 대상연령, 장애영역에 따른 효과크기 분석에서 ‘매우 높은 효과’를 나타냈고 이 결과를 통해 자폐성 장애, 정신지체를 갖는 취학 전 유아에게 ‘매우 높은 효과’를 나타내는 중재임을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 국내 PECS 중재는 지금까지 자발어, 기능적 의사소통, 그리고 상호작용과 같은 의사소통 의도를 갖는 행동에 대해 수행되었고 이들 종속변인에 대해 PECS 중재는 ‘매우 높은 효과’를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 이런 분석결과와 문헌분석 중에 드러난 PECS 중재 연구의 제한점을 바탕으로 향후 국내 PECS 적용 실험연구가 나아가야 할 방향에 대해 제언하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to analyze the extant empirical literature for PECS(Picture Exchange Communication System) published in Korea. For this purpose, we selected 8 research papers using the inclusion criterion that the article employ single-case research designs demonstrating experimental control and investigated the moderator variables. And then we analyzed the effect sizes using the Improvement Rate Difference method, which had been known as an advanced metric for the single-case research, independently for disability and targeted outcomes. The results of this research were as follows. First, the PECS interventions generally showed very large effects on preschool children with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Second, domestic researches on PECS had been carried out, concentrating on the intentional communicative behaviors, such as utterances, functional communications, and social-interactive behaviors. And also the PECS interventions generally showed very large effects on the intentional communicative behaviors. Based on the results and the limitations revealed during the analyses, we suggested the future directions of the domestic researches on PECS.
