국문 초록

경찰은 업무의 특수성상 다양한 환경 및 상황에서 대응할 수 있도록 실제상황과 유사한 현실적인 교육이 이루어져야 한다. 그러나 실제와 같은 교육훈련은 다양한 위험요소가 상존하며 높은 비용이 요구되는 등 현실적인 한계가 존재한다. 가상현실(Virtual Reality, VR)은 경찰, 군, 소방, 의료, 항공 등과 같이 위험성이 크거나 현장감 및 현실성 있는 교육훈련이 이루어지기 힘든 분야에서 다양하게 활용 가능한 기술이다. 따라서 이 연구의 목적은 가상현실 기술의 의의, 적용 가능한 기술 및 활용 사례 등의 고찰을 통하여 경찰교육훈련에 적용가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 이 연구에서는 가상현실 기술이 현장 실습형 교육훈련에 적용되어 활용되었을 때 기대되는 효과를 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 가상현실 기술을 활용하여 교육훈련이 이루어진다면 기존의 교육훈련 과정에서 발생 가능한 안전상의 문제는 상당 부분 해결이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, 다양한 가상현실 환경을 통하여 실제상황과 같은 훈련이 이루어질 수 있는 현실성을 담보할 수 있을 것으로 전망된다. 둘째, 경찰교육훈련에 가상현실 기술의 적용은 저비용으로 고품질의 훈련을 가능하게 하기 때문에 투입자원을 최소화하고도 최대의 효과를 얻을 수 있을 것이다. 마지막으로 실제상황과 유사한 상황에 대한 반복적인 교육을 통하여 빠른 판단과 대처능력을 크게 증대시킬 수 있을 것으로 보았다.

영문 초록

Police should provide realistic education similar to actual situations so that they can cope with various circumstances and situations in the special nature of police work. However, there are realistic limitations such as the fact that various kinds of risk factors exist and the high cost is required. Virtual reality(VR) is a technology that can be used in various fields such as police, military, fire, medical, aviation, etc., where on spot and realistic education and training is dangerous and cannot be achieved. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to explore applicability to police education and training by examining the significance of virtual reality technology, applicable technologies and applications. This study presented the expected effects when VR technology was applied and practiced in field practice training as follows. First, if education and training are implemented using VR technology, it is considered that the safety problems that can occur in the existing education and training process can be solved to a great extent, and through various VR environments, it is expected to be able to provide realistic reality such as actual situation. Second, as the application of VR technology to police education and training enables low‐cost, high‐quality training, minimizing the input resources will also have the greatest effect. Lastly, through repeated training on situations similar to actual situations, it is thought that it is possible to greatly increase the speed of judgment and coping ability.
