국문 초록

전 세계의 친환경 규제 정책으로 인한 LNG 추진 선박 시장은 미래성장 동력산업으로 새롭게 주목받고 있다. 천연가스 구매력 상위 국가로서 양호한 터미널 운영능력 보유와 세계시장 1위의 LNG 수송선 건조 능력을 갖추고 있는 한국으로서는 갈수록 커지고 시장을 먼저 선점하여 승부를 걸어볼 만한 산업 분야이다. 우리의 주변에는 세계적으로 강력한 경쟁국인 중국과 일본이 존재하고 있다. 중국은 조선업 부흥을 도모하고 일본은 고부가가치 선박에 지원정책을 시행하고 있다. 이들 국가의 기술 역량이나 엄청난 자본 투자 속도를 고려할 때 우리에게 주어진 골든 타임(golden time)은 많지 않다. LNG 추진선 시장이 조선, 해운, 기자재, 에너지 등 모든 연관 업종이 각자 살길을 찾는 방식이 아닌 함께하는 구조로서 글로벌 가치사슬을 통한 저비용ㆍ고효율 경쟁력을 갖춰야 한다. 이를 통해 스필오버(spill-over) 효과를 이끌어 침체한 한국의 조선ㆍ해운 강국의 면모를 찾는데 밑거름이 되어야 한다. 한ㆍ중ㆍ일 삼국의 주요 전략을 본 연구는 비교ㆍ분석하여 이에 대한 시사점을 도출하고 이를 바탕으로 한국의 LNG 추진선 발전에 필요한 대응 방안을 제시하였다.

영문 초록

Purpose : This study compares and analyzes the main strategies of Korea, China and Japan, drawing the implications and suggesting the countermeasures for the development of Korea s LNG carriers Research design, data, methodology : We collected data on LNG propulsion ships and interviewed employees working in these fields. Results : The LNG-driven marine market due to the global eco-friendly regulatory policy is becoming a future growth engine and we have to find out what we need to do. Korea not only has a good terminal operating capability to buy natural gas, but has the capacity to build the world s NO.1 LNG carrier. Korea will be able to lead the world market in sufficiency. Conclusions : The LNG carrier mark et needs to have low cost and high efficiency competitiveness through the global value chain as a structure in which all related industries such as shipbuilding, shipping, equipment, and energy do not form the growth alone. This should lead to a spillover effect, which should help to find the stagnant Korean ship and shipping power.
