박재삼 시의 연민의 정서 연구

국문 초록

이 글의 목적은 철저하게 개인적 차원에 머물고 있다는 평가를 받고 있는 박재삼 시의 슬픔 등속의 정서가 단순히 시인의 기질적 측면이나 개인사에만 근거하고 있는 것이 아니라 현실 인식, 나아가 현실 비판과 연관되어 있음을, 그리고 그 매개가 되고 있는 것이 공감을 바탕으로 한 연민의 정서임을 밝히는 데 있다. 연민이란 타인의 슬픔에 대한 동류의식을 의미한다. 박재삼의 시에서 연민의 대상은 크게 유년의 자아와 혈육, 설화적 여성인물, 하층민으로 나누어볼 수 있다. 박재삼의 시에서 유년의 자아나 가족들은 '반짝임', '빛'으로 표상되는, 순박하고 무구한 존재임이 강조되고 있다. 이들은 고통을 당할 만한 이유가 없는 존재들임에도 고통에 처해있다는 점에서 슬픔 주체이자 연민의 대상이 된다. 또 다른 인물군으로 설화적 여성 인물을 들 수 있는데 이들은 사랑의 장해요소인 거대한 힘 앞에서 타자화된 '약한자'로서 연민의 대상이 되고 있다. 극복할 수 없는 거대한 힘 앞에서 타자화된 존재로서 사랑의 부재를 견디고 있는 설화적 여성 인물들은 다름 아닌 시인 자신의 자아상이자 자신의 슬픔이 투사된 존재이다. 마지막으로, 하층민에 대한 동류의식과 연민의 정서는 메저키즘적 구도를 통해 발현되고 있어 의미가 깊다. 박재삼의 시에서 메저키즘적 구도는 그의 현실인식과 비판의식을 가장 구체적으로 드러내주는 시적 의장으로 기능하기 때문이다. 이는 하층민의 입을 통해 드러나는 고통의 현실과 그에 대한 시적 주체의 연민의 정서가 독자의 공감을 획득하는 과정을 통해 심층적인 층위에서는 지배층에 대한 비난의 목소리를 선취하게 되는 구도로 드러난다.

영문 초록

Purpose of this article is to clarify that emotions in Park Jae-Sam's poetry such as sorrow which are merely assessed as thoroughly being on personal level are not only based on the poet's temperament or personal affairs but they are related to awareness of reality and subsequently to criticism on it and that; its medium is the emotion of compassion based on sympathy. Pity means consciousness of kind in sorrow of others. In Park Jae-Sam's poetry, objects for compassion are largely classified into (i) ego in childhood; (ii) one's own flesh and blood; (iii) fictional woman characters and; (iv) the lower class. Ego in childhood or family is stressed as naive and innocent existence which is represented as 'glint' and 'light' in Park Jae-Sam's poetry. These objects have no reason for suffering but they are actually in pain, which makes them the existence of sorrow and pity as well. Another category of fictional woman characters is objectified as 'the weak' before enormous power, an obstacle for love and it is subject to pity. With huge strength they insurmountably face, fictional woman characters who endure absence of love as objectified existence are the very ego of the poet himself and they are beings on which his sorrow is projected. Lastly, it is significant that consciousness of kind and pity to the lower class are revealed through a masochistic composition. It is because the masochistic composition in Park Jae-Sam's poetry serves as a poetic design to most concretely express his awareness and criticism of reality. Painful reality concealed by the lower class' voices and subsequent pity from poetic subject appear as composition to secure the criticism on the ruling class on in-depth dimension through the process to acquire readers' sympathy.
