寄內詩의 맥락에서 본 백광훈의 「龍江詞」

국문 초록

백광훈의 「용강사」는 그동안 남성들의 이기적인 태도로 인해 버림받은 여성이 남편을 향해 자신의 신세를 한탄하는 노래로 이해되어왔다. 당시 유행한 민요풍 한시의 맥락에서 관습적으로 읽은 결과다. 한시는 관습성이 강한 보수적인 장르지만, 「용강사」의 경우처럼 관습성의 코드로만 읽을 때 심각한 오독으로 이어질 염려가 있는 작품도 있다. 「용강사」는 남편이 아내에게 보내는 기내시(寄內詩: 객지의 남편이 고향의 아내에게 보내는 시)의 성격을 띠는 작품이다. 돌아가고 싶어도 갈 수 없는 자신의 처지를 돌아보며, 고향에서 자신을 기다리고 있을 아내에 대한 미안한 감정의 토로가 시인이 작품에서 말하고자 한 핵심 주제다. 용강(龍江)은 자신의 고향 앞으로 흐르는 용호(龍湖)를 우의적으로 나타낸 것이다. 표현 방식은 중국의 악부(樂府) 형식을 충실히 따르면서, 내용은 관습적 주제를 반복하지 않고 자신의 실제 삶을 녹여냈다. 백광훈의 작품 속에는 객지에서 고향과 가족을 그리며 가족애를 토로한 시들이 적지 않다. 백광훈은 조선 중기 시단을 이끈 뛰어난 시인이다. 낭만적인 시풍을 추구하여 서정적 가락에서 아주 우수한 문학적 성취를 보여주었다. 그의 문학 속에는 남도(南道)의 애틋한 정서와 리듬이 살아 있다.

영문 초록

Baek Kwang-Hun is one of the leading poets in the middle of the Chosun dynasty. One of his works, "Yongkangsa" has generally known as a lamentation of a woman complaining her abandoned life by her husband and his selfishness. However, that is wrong understanding caused by people who generalized this as one of those folk style poems regarding the popularity of the style around the time it was written, but they didn't give enough consideration about its writer. Sino-Korean poetry is inherently conservative genre based on the customs of its society. Moreover, when it comes to describing women's feeling, these characteristics of the genre become even more prominent. However, trying to understand one's poem only based on typicalities of its time can lead readers to serious misunderstanding, as it did in the case of Yongkangsa. "Yonkangsa" can be classified as a Kinaysi寄內詩, a letter form of poem written by husbands to their wives far away from their home. The theme of "Yonkangsa" is not a wife's grievance against her husband who doesn't care and support his family properly. Rather poet is describing heartbreaking and sorry feeling of the husband whose situation doesn't allow him to go back, and expressing his heart toward his wife who would be looking forward to seeing him again. Yongkang龍江 is clear implication of Yongho龍湖, a stream running through the author's house. He strictly put his verse into the form of Ackpu樂府 while he freely expressed his feeling and life from the same conventional themes of that time. There are many of his works describing man's loneliness and homesickness far away from his family and hometown. I studied his other works for this essay to go over family love which was largely expressed in his poems. Baek Gwang-Hun is a very distinguished poet in our history, and he got high achievement in lyrics by seeking for romantic mood through his lines. Particular rhyme and heartrending sentiment from Namdo南道 district is vividly expressed in his poetry, and "Yongkangsa" is good model to represent his romantic poetry world.
