국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교사의 그림책을 활용한 인성교육에 대한 인식과 실천을 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연 구대상은 전국 어린이집과 유치원에 근무 중인 3~5세 학급을 담당하는 교사 213명이며 설문조사를 실시했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 그림책을 활용한 유아 인성교육에 대한 유아교사의 관심과 중요성에 대한 인식이 높게 나타났으며, 대다수의 유아교사가 유아 인성교육에 그림책이 활용될 필요 가 있다고 인식했다. 또한 유아교사가 인식하는 유아 인성교육에서 그림책이 갖는 이점은 접근의 용이 함과 유아의 흥미와 관심을 불러일으킨다는 점이었으며, 유아교사는 그림책을 활용한 인성교육을 유 아의 감정 및 행동조절 능력의 발달에 효과적이라고 인식했다. 그림책을 활용한 인성교육에서 가장 중 요한 유아교사의 역할은 적절한 방식으로 그림책을 읽어주고 활용하는 것이었다. 둘째, 그림책을 활 용한 인성교육은 월 2회 실시하는 경우가 가장 많았으며, 주로 집단활동의 형태로 이루어지고 있었다. 또한 유아교사는 그림책을 활용한 인성교육을 실천하는 것에 대해 크게 어려움이 없었으며, 교사교육 을 통해 그림책 선정 기준 및 그림책을 활용한 인성교육의 의미와 가치를 알기를 요구했다. 본 연구의 결과는 유아 인성교육의 활성화를 위한 그림책 활용의 가능성을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aims to explore early childhood teachers’ perceptions and practices regarding the use of picture books for character education. The participants were 213 teachers responsible for classes of children aged 3 to 5 years, in daycare centers and kindergartens. Data were collected through a survey. The findings are as follows. First, early childhood teachers showed a high level of interest in and awareness of the importance of character education using picture books. Early childhood teachers valued picture books for their accessibility and ability to engage children, and believed character education using picture books is effective in support emotional regulation and behavioral control. The most important role of teachers was seen as reading and utilizing picture books in an appropriate manner. Second, character education using picture books was most commonly implemented twice a month, primarily in the form of group activities. Early childhood teachers generally did not perceive this practice as challenging. But, they expressed a desire for professional development, particularly in selecting appropriate picture books and deepening their understanding of the goals and values of character education. The results of this study is significant in suggesting the potential for utilizing picture books to promote character education in early childhood settings.
