Remimazolam in anesthesia for pacemaker implantation in complete atrioventricular heart block: a case report

국문 초록

This case report describes the successful application of remimazolam for general anesthesia during permanent pacemaker (PPM) implantation in a patient with pre-existing complete atrioventricular (AV) block. This case highlights remimazolam’s hemodynamic stability, even in a patient presenting with severe bradycardia secondary to PPM lead disruption and multiple comorbidities. Given the contraindications of propofol in patients with underlying conduction disturbances, remimazolam, a benzodiazepine with a favorable hemodynamic profile, was selected. The intraoperative hemodynamic parameters remained stable, and the patient recovered uneventfully. This case supports using remimazolam as a safe and effective anesthetic agent for PPM implantation in patients with a complete AV block.
