국문 초록

이 연구는 직업계고 졸업자의 첫 일자리 유지를 결정하는 예측 요인을 구명하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국교육고용패널 Ⅱ차 WAVE 1~5차년도 자료를 연계한 시계열 데이터를 기반으로 랜덤포레스트 기법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 결과 직업계고 졸업자의 첫 일자리 유지 여부 모형의 예측성과는 적절한 것으로 나타났다. 예측 요인 중 중요도가 가장 높은 것은 ‘월평균 임금’으로 임금이 많을수록 첫 일자리를 유지하는 것으로 확인되었다. 다음으로 개인･심리적 특성 변인인 심리적 진로장벽, 진로성숙도, 자아탄력성, 환경적 진로장벽 등으로 나타나 직업계고 졸업자의 일자리 유지와 관련해서 심리적 특성이 중요함을 확인하였다. 상위 20위에 포함되는 변인의 중요도 지수를 분석한 결과, 조직 특성 요인이 8개로 가장 많았으며, 개인･심리적 특성과 학교생활 특성은 각각 6개로 제시됨에 따라, 개인･심리, 학교생활 및 조직 특성 등이 종합적으로 첫 일자리를 유지하는데 주요함을 확인하였다. 연구 제언은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 직업계고 졸업자의 일자리 유지와 관련한 체계적인 종단연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다. 둘째, 직업계고 졸업자가 입직하는 첫 직장의 규모를 세분화하여 추가적인 실증 연구가 필요하다. 셋째, 고등학교 재학 기간 동안 심리적 자원을 체계적으로 개발할 수 있는 교육적 및 교사 지원이 마련되어야 한다. 넷째, 직업계고 졸업자에게 좋은 일자리를 제공하여 첫 일자리 유지율을 제고할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to identify the predictive factors determining the retention of the first job among vocational high school graduates. To achieve this, a time-series dataset was constructed by linking data from Waves 1 to 5 of the Korean Education and Employment Panel II (KEEP II), and the analysis was conducted using the random forest method. The results showed that the predictive performance of the model for first job retention among vocational high school graduates was adequate. Among the predictive factors, the variable with the highest importance was "monthly average wage," indicating that higher wages were associated with a greater likelihood of retaining the first job. Following this, personal and psychological characteristics such as psychological career barriers, career maturity, ego resilience, and environmental career barriers were identified as significant factors, confirming the importance of psychological traits in the job retention of vocational high school graduates. An analysis of the top 20 variables in terms of importance revealed that organizational characteristics accounted for eight variables—the largest share—while personal and psychological characteristics and school life characteristics each accounted for six variables. This suggests that personal, psychological, school life, and organizational characteristics comprehensively play major roles in the retention of the first job. Based on the research findings, implications for research and efforts to support the retention of the first job among vocational high school graduates were discussed, along with suggestions for future studies.
