청소년의 신체적 자아상과 우울이 학교적응에 미치는 영향 : 스포츠 활동의 조절된 매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 청소년의 신체적 자아상이 학교적응에 미치는 영향에서 우울의 매개효과와 스포츠 활동의 조절된 매개효과를 실증적으로 검증하고자 하였다. 최근 청소년 사이에서 외모 중심적 사회문화와 SNS를 통한 이상화된 신체 이미지 노출이 증가하며, 이에 따른 청소년의 자아상 저하와 정서적 어려움이 우려되고 있다. 이에 따라 본 연구는 신체적 자아상과 학교적응 간의 관계에서 우울의 정서적 경로와 스포츠 활동이라는 행동적 보호 요인의 역할을 통합적으로 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국아동패널Ⅱ 15차년도(2022)의 중학교 2학년 청소년 1,293명을 연구대상으로 SPSS PROCESS Macro(Model 7)를 활용하여 조절된 매개효과 분석을 수행하였다. 분석 결과, 첫째, 청소년의 신체적 자아상은 학교적응에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 우울은 이 관계를 부분 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 스포츠 활동은 신체적 자아상과 우울 간의 관계를 유의하게 조절하였고, 셋째, 신체적 자아상이 우울을 통해 학교적응에 미치는 간접효과에서 스포츠 활동의 조절된 매개효과가 확인되었다. 이러한 결과는 청소년기의 신체 인식과 정서, 행동 요인 간의 상호작용을 구조적으로 설명하며, 이를 통해 신체 이미지 교육, 정서 개입, 스포츠 참여 활성화를 통한 심리사회적 개입 방안 마련에 시사점을 제공한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate the mediating role of depression and the moderated mediation effect of sports activity in the relationship between body esteem and school adjustment among adolescents. With the growing influence of appearance-focused social norms and exposure to idealized body images through social media, concerns about distorted body image and related emotional difficulties have increased among youth. Using data from the 15th wave(2022) of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey II(KCYPS II), a total of 1,293 second-grade middle school students were analyzed. The results, based on SPSS PROCESS Macro(Model 7), revealed that body esteem positively influenced school adjustment and that depression partially mediated this relationship. In addition, sports activity moderated the effect of body esteem on depression and the indirect effect of body esteem on school adjustment via depression. These findings demonstrate the structural interplay among cognitive, emotional, and behavioral factors in adolescent development and provide implications for promoting school adjustment through integrated interventions such as body image education, emotional support, and increased opportunities for physical activity.
