국문 초록

최근 국가보훈부의 장관급 부처 승격과 ‘모두의 보훈’ 정책 슬로건의 추진은 보훈문화 확산의 필요성을 더욱 부각시키고 있다. 특히 청소년 시기는 국가와 사회에 대한 가치관이 형성되는 중요한 시기로, 이들에게 보훈문화의 중요성을 인식시키기 위한 체계적이고 효과적인 교육이 필요하다. 그러나 현행 공교육 체계에서 근현대사 교육 비중이 축소되면서, 청소년들의 보훈문화에 대한 이해는 제한되고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 기념관 교육이 보훈문화 확산에 기여할 수 있는 대안적 방법임을 전제로, 전쟁기념관과 연계한 체험형 보훈교육 프로그램을 개발하고 그 적용과정을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서는 청소년의 자발적인 참여와 몰입을 유도하기 위해 전시 관람 활동과 보드게임을 결합한 체험형 보훈교육 프로그램을 개발하였다. 특히, 역사적 이해를 돕는 동시에 보훈의식을 증진시키는 보드게임 교보재를 개발하고, 활동지를 활용한 전시 관람 활동을 구성하였다. 프로그램 적용 결과, 청소년들의 역사 인식과 보훈의식이 향상되었으며, 보훈문화 확산에 대한 가능성을 보였다. 이 연구는 기념관을 기반으로 한 체험형 보훈교육이 청소년의 보훈 인식 제고와 보훈문화를 확산시킬 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있음을 실증적으로 제시한다. 또한, 보훈문화 확산을 위한 교육적 실천 방안을 구체화함으로써, 향후 기념관 교육 프로그램 개발에 대한 이론적·실천적 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있다.

영문 초록

The elevation of the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs and the introduction of the "Patriotism for All" policy highlight the need to expand patriotic culture. However, reduced emphasis on modern history in public education limits youth engagement with patriotic values. This study developed and implemented a patriotic education program as part of the War Memorial of Korea’s curriculum and analyzed its application process. The program combined exhibition-based learning and an interactive board game to enhance students’ historical understanding and patriotic awareness. Particularly, a board game was designed as an experiential learning tool, allowing students to actively participate and internalize historical narratives. Findings suggest that experiential learning fosters greater immersion and comprehension of national history, making abstract concepts more tangible. This study provides a practical model for integrating patriotic education into memorial halls, demonstrating how structured experiential learning enhances youth engagement with national history. While previous research focused on policy discussions, this study presents a concrete example of program implementation. Results indicate that high satisfaction with the program increases peer recommendation, suggesting its potential for organic expansion among youth. By incorporating patriotic education into memorial halls, this study offers a foundational model for future curriculum development, demonstrating how historical sites can instill national identity and civic responsibility in younger generations. It also highlights the role of memorial-based education in fostering a sustainable culture of remembrance and patriotism.
