학생부종합전형이 주형하는 학력관 형성 메커니즘에 관한 근거이론 연구 : S대 신입생들의 대입 준비 경험을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 2015 개정 교육과정 시행 이후 한국 고등학교에서 학생부종합전형을 준비한 경험이 있는 국내 최상위권 대학 입학자들을 대상으로 그들의 학력관과 그 형성 과정을 분석하고 이론화하는 것이다. 이를 위해 2024학년도에 S대학교에 입학한 11명의 신입생들을 대상으로 심층면담을 진행하여 근거이론적 방법을 통해 이들의 대입 준비 경험과 학력에 대한 관점이 형성되는 메커니즘을 분석하였다. 연구 결과 연구참여자들은 학벌주의, ‘명문대’ 진학 실적을 중요시하는 고교 문화, 이분화된 대입 전형이라는 인과적 조건을 바탕으로 학생부 ‘가꾸기’의 과정으로 명명할 수 있는 중심현상을 경험하였다. 학생들은 내신 경쟁과 학생부 채우기의 과정 속에서 ‘최대한의 자원 동원 전략’, ‘극단적인 과업 처리 전략’, ‘주도적인 협상 전략’, ‘효율적인 자원 배분 전략’을 통해 제도에 대응하였다. 그 결과로 학생부종합전형 준비의 과정은 학생들에게 ‘주도적인 자원관리 능력’, ‘육각형 인재상으로 대표되는 다재다능성’, ‘자기-마케팅적 성실성’으로 특징 지어지는 학력관을 주형하였다. 학력관 형성 과정의 이러한 특징은 이들로 하여금 학업성취능력에 국한된 학력관을 탈피하도록 했으나 동시에 자기 주도적으로 자원을 효율적으로 관리하여 대입에서의 성공을 전략적으로 쟁취하는 능력을 강조함으로써 학력의 자기-귀속화 경향을 강화시켰다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to analyze and theorize the views on competency and the process of their formation among students admitted to top-tier universities in Korea, who have prepared for admission through a student record-based selection process after the implementation of the 2015 revised curriculum. To this end, in-depth interviews were conducted with 11 freshmen entering University S in the academic year 2024 to analyze their college preparation experiences and the mechanisms by which their views of academic competence are formed through grounded theory methods. The findings revealed that the participants experienced a central phenomenon that can be characterized as a process of student affairs “grooming” based on the causal conditions of meritocracy, a high school culture that emphasizes performance in “prestigious” colleges, and a dichotomized college admissions process. Students responded to the system through 'maximizing resource mobilization strategies', 'extreme task handling strategies', 'proactive negotiation strategies', and 'efficient resource allocation strategies' in the process of admissions competition and student record filling. As a result, comprehensive student records selection system molded a particular view of academic achievement in the study participants. These were summarized as 'proactive resource management ability', 'versatility represented by the hexagonal talent image', and 'self-marketing integrity'. These features of the educational attainment process helped them to break away from the test-oriented educational attainment, but at the same time, they reinforced the self-attribution of educational attainment by emphasizing the ability to proactively manage resources efficiently as a strategy to achieve college success.
