국문 초록

본 연구는 그림책을 활용한 독서프로그램에 참여한 초등학생의 자아존중감 및 사회성 변화를 살펴보고자 하며, 프로그램 참여 과정에 어떤 경험과 의미를 찾게 되었는지 탐구하는데, 그 목적이 있었다. 본 연구의 대상자는 초등학생 2학년, 3학년, 4학년을 대상으로 O 도서관에서 자유롭게 신청한 학생들이다. 본 연구에서 ‘그림책을 통한 독서프로그램’을 진행하면서 도출된 결과를 바탕으로 몇 가지 결론을 제시하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 참여 학생들은 ‘그림책을 활용한 독서프로그램’후에 자기 생각을 정리하고 표현함으로써 자신감 향상에 긍정적인 변화가 있었다. 둘째, ‘그림책을 활용한 독서프로그램’ 후에 함께 참여 학생들의 말을 들어주고 이해와 공감을 통해 사회성 향상에 긍정적인 변화가 있었다. 셋째, ‘그림책을 활용한 독서프로그램’ 통해 참여 학생들은 자신들의 생각을 자유롭게 표현하고, 긍정적인 언어사용 등의 변화가 있었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 연구의 한계를 밝히고, 추후 연구를 위해 다음과 같은 몇 가지 제언을 하고자 한다. 첫째, 추후 연구에서는 초등학교 저학년 고학년과 중학생 등 보다 다양한 연령대의 참여자와 좀 더 긴 기간 동안 그림책을 활용한 독서프로그램이 유의미한 효과가 있는지에 대해서 활발한 연구가 필요하다. 둘째, 본 연구는 참여 관찰을 통한 사례연구로서 통제집단과의 비교가 없었기 때문에 연구의 결과가 다른 요인으로 인한 변화인지 그림책을 활용한 프로그램 효과로 인한 변화인지 정확하게 밝히기에는 무리가 있다. 추후 연구에서는 통제집단과의 비교 연구도 진행되어야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the changes in self-respect and sociality of elementary school students who participated in reading programs using picture books, and to explore the experiences and meanings of the process of participating in the program. The subjects of this study are students who applied freely at the O Library for the second, third and fourth graders of elementary school. Based on the results obtained during the reading program through picture books in this study, some conclusions are presented as follows. First, the participating students had a positive change in self-confidence by organizing and expressing their thoughts after the reading program using picture books. Second, after the reading program using picture books, there was a positive change in social skills through listening to the students who participated together and understanding and empathy. Third, through the reading program using picture books, the participating students freely expressed their thoughts and changed the use of positive language. Based on the results of this study, I would like to reveal the limitations of my research and make some suggestions for further research. First, further research requires active research on whether reading programs using picture books for longer periods of time and participants of more diverse ages, such as lower grades and middle school students in elementary schools, have significant effects. Second, since this study was a case study through participatory observation, there was no comparison with the control group, it is difficult to pinpoint whether the results of the study were changes due to other factors or program effects using picture books. In further studies, comparative studies with control groups will also need to be conducted.
