국문 초록

본 연구는 교육의 종교적 측면을 검토하기 위한 것이다. 동, 서양을 막론하고, 교육은 교과의 초월성과 내면화 과정을 동시에 존중하는 것을 그 원형으로 하고 있다. 그러나 근대이후, 교육의 초월성과 내면화 과정 사이의 관계를 올바로 인식되지 못한 결과 교육은 외재적 가치 추구를 위한 수단적 활동으로 전락하였다. 교과의 초월성의 의미를 밝히는 데에는 Snell의 마음의 발견 에 관한 논의와 「周易」의 사고방식을 검토하는 것이 도움이 된다. 그리고 교과의 내면화 과정의 종교적 의미를 이해하는 데에는 소크라테스의 회상설과 Eros의 개념, 칸트의 a priori와 반성적 판단, 그리고 신유학의 格物致知와 誠과 敬등의 개념을 검토하는 것이 도움이 된다. 교육의 종교적 측면에 관한 논의는 무엇보다도 인간의 삶 또는 몸과 마음이 중층구조를 이루고 있다는 것을 부각시킨다. 교과 교육의 과정은 몸과 마음의 중층구조와 신비를 구체적으로 인식하는 통로가 된다는 점에서 그 자체가 신비 중의 신비 에 속한다.

영문 초록

The present study is an attempt to inquire into the religious dimension of education. In both world, the East and the West, the transcendental nature and the internalization of subject-matter had been considered as the two constituents of education in its archetype. But, after Renaissance and modern age, the relation of these two constituents or aspects of education have undergone a wide misinterpretation. As a result, education has reduced to the means of achieving extrinsic ends. It can be said that the concept of discovery of mind in Snell s 『Discovery of Mind』 and the world-view of Confucian sacred book 『Ⅰ-Ching』 contribute to bring forth the transcendental nature of subject-matter. And Socrates doctrine of “recollection” and “eros”, Kant s conception of “a priori” and ‘reflective judgment’, and neo-Confucian conception of ‘investigation of things and extension of knowledge’(格物致知), sincerity (誠), and reverence (敬) help to give an explanation to the internalization of subject-matter. Above all, the discussion of the religious dimension of education helps to reveal and appreciate ‘the two-fold structure (重層構造) of human life and mind. Being a vehicle for appreciating and contemplating the two-fold structure of mind/body and its mystery, the process of subject-matter education reveals the mystery of mystery inherent in itself.
