학습분석학 기반의 사이버대학의 중도탈락 예측 분석

국문 초록

본 연구는 학습분석학적 접근을 바탕으로 사이버대학 1학년 신입생의 1, 2학기 중도탈락을 예측하고, 신입생의 첫 학기와 이후 학기의 중도탈락 양상을 비교하여, 확인된 영향 요인들을 바탕으로 학습 과정에서 수집 가능한 데이터 셋에 근거하여 중도탈락 위험군을 분석함으로써, 중도탈락 방지를 위한 시사점을 제시하고자 하였다. 선행연구의 검토를 통해 사이버대학 중도탈락 영향 요인을 학습 여건(경제적 부담, 학업 강도), 학습 과정(학습 참여 활동, 학습 규칙성), 학습 결과(성적, 수업만족도)의 3개 영역에서 6가지 요인으로 도출하여 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통하여 사이버대학 중도탈락 예측 모형을 도출하였다. 분석 결과, 사이버대학의 중도탈락을 예측하는 가장 중요한 요인은 성적(평균 평점)이며, 학습 규칙성, 수업만족도, 전액장학 여부가 예측요인으로 검증되었다. 결과 분석을 통해 중도탈락 방지를 위한 예비적 조치로써 신입생의 첫 학기 학습지원 전략과 이후 학기의 전략의 차별화의 필요성이 도출되었으며, 학습 규칙성을 안정적으로 확보하여 온라인 교육에 적응하도록 하는 것이 중도탈락 없이 학업을 지속하는 핵심전략으로 도출되었다.

영문 초록

Based on the learning analysis approach, this study was intended to predict the dropout of freshmen in the first and second semesters of cyber universities, and to compare the dropout patterns of freshmen in the first and second semesters. In order to predict the dropout, the data sets that can be collected in the course of learning were analyzed to distinguish the risk group of dropouts and suggested implications for preventing dropouts. Through the review of the preceding study, six factors were derived in three areas: learning conditions (economic burden, academic intensity), learning processes (learning participation activities, learning regularity), and learning outcomes (grade, class satisfaction) to derive a cyber university dropout prediction model through logistic regression. The analysis shows that the most important factors in predicting a cyber university s dropout are grades(GPA), learning regularity, class satisfaction, and full scholarship are proven predictors. As a result, the need to differentiate between the first semester learning support strategy for new students and the next semester as a preintervention to prevent them from going out of the university. In addition, regular learning was derived as a key strategy to continue the study without dropping out.
