대학생 경영컨설팅 인턴의 일터에서 실행공동체 참여를 통한 학습에 대한 질적 사례 연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 대학생 경영컨설팅 인턴이 일터에서 실행공동체 참여를 통해 경험하는 학습에 대해 탐구하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이를 위해 경영컨설팅 인턴십에 참여한 여덟 명의 대학생을 대상으로 심층면담과 업무일기등을 통해 자료를 수집하고 분석하였다. 이들은 경영컨설팅 일터 공동체에 참여하여 다양한 방식으로 배움과 성장의 기회를 얻었다. 일터 선배들을 통한 비참여의 경험은 일터의 맥락을 이해하고 미래를 구체화하는데 도움이 되었다. 경영컨설팅 일터에서 인턴들은 스스로 배우기와 함께 배우기의 과정을 겪었다. 일터의 실제 상황속에서 팀의 과업을 수행하는 과정은 그들로 하여금 스스로 배우도록 했고, 구성원들과 함께 직면한 문제를 고민하고 해결하면서 함께 배우기를 실천했다. 이들은 또한 실행공동체로서 경영컨설팅 일터가 가지는 공동업무, 공동자산, 호혜적 관여를 경험했다. 이를 통해 경영컨설팅 일터가 쌓아온 고유한 문화와 역사를 배울 수 있었다. 그러나 대학생들의 실행공동체 참여는 불완전한 합법성의 한계를 나타냈다. 이들은 합법적인 허락에 의해 일을 경험하고 배울 수 있는 권한을 부여받았고, 주변적인 위치에서 다양한 층위의 경험을 할 수 있었다. 그럼에도 불구하고, 인턴은 더 이상 조직의 중심부로 진입할 수 없었고, 완전한 참여에 제한받는 불완전한 위치에놓여 있을 수밖에 없었다.

영문 초록

This study is about learning through participation in community of practice of college students during their business consulting internship. We found following findings as a result of qualitative case studies. First, business consulting internship provided learning and growing experience to the students. Business consulting workplace community enabled ‘learning alone’ and ‘learning together.’ Due to the position of intern, the process of solving problems by oneself increases learning autonomy and made ‘learning alone’ possible. Also, students agonized and solved the facing problems with the community members and practiced ‘learning together’. Second, student`s intern activity can be explained as participation in communities of practice(CoP). As CoP, the workplace of business consulting has existing culture that has been set by the workers. Like this, the participation in workplace is not just infecting propositional education but can be a learning source to achieve learning from social participation in community. Finally, internship can be explained as ‘legitimate peripheral participation’. The ‘legitimacy’ that group community authorizes means officially approving the status of ‘intern’ and to giving the authority to experience and learn the work. These authority helps the student to feel sense of belonging in the group and to keep the cooperative relationship with other members. However, interns are at ‘peripheral’ place of having limitation in full participation. Intern`s peripheral position did not go through recruiting process and due to the fact that they cannot approach to the center of the group is stays in ‘incomplete legitimacy’.
