영문 초록

This paper is to review historically the After-school English education for 1st and 2nd grade in elementary school since 2000. After the 7th national English curriculum was introduced to 3rd and 4th graders in 2001, several revised versions(2007, 2009, 2015) of the national curriculum extended a bit more class times per week in elementary English education. Specifically, two class times per week for 3rd and 4th and three class times for 5th and 6th were since 2008 revised elementary English education. The After-school English education for 1st and 2nd grade has attempted nationwide in 2006 but was postponed, and eventually has been introduced as a form of broadcasting by EBS in 2011. Though there were many turns and twists, the government made public by law the After-school English education for 1st and 2nd grade in elementary school in 2019.
