유아의 자기존중감과 사회적 유능감과의 관계

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 유아의 자기존중감과 사회적 유능감이 어떻게 나타나며 성차가 있는 지를 알아보고, 자기존중감의 수준과 성이 사회적 유능감에 어떻게 영향을 미치는지를 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 충청남도 서산시의 공립유치원에 다니고 있는 만 5세 159명이었다. 그 결과, 유아는 자기존중감에서 비교적 긍정적인 자기지각을 하고 있으며, 유의미한 수준에서 성차가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 유아의 사회적 유능감은 유의미한 수준의 성차를 보이지 않았다. 유아의 자기존중감 수준과 성별에 따른 사회적 유능감과의 관계에서, 유아의 사회적 유능감은 자기존중감 수준의 주효과에서 유의미한 차이를 보이고 있으며, 성별의 주효과와 자기존중감 수준과 성별의 상호작용 효과에서는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to find out how young children s self-esteem and social competence appear and to investigate young children s developmental phase of social competence according to the self-esteem levels and the gender. The participants for the study were 159 young children(92 boys and 67 girls) in Seosan, Chungnam.. To measure young children s self-esteem and social competence, Korean version of The Pictorial Scale of Perceived Competence and Social Acceptance for Young Children of Harter & Pike(1984) (Kim, 2004) and ‘Social Competence Rating Scale for Young Children originated by Lee(2005) was used. The Results of the study were as follows: First, the children perceived themselves to be positive intermediately. Second, the mean of social competence was 3.65: It means social competence is closer to the 4 point of 「That is some right」than the 3 point of 「That is an average」. Third, young children s social competence was found to have significant differences according to the developmental self-esteem level(p<.01). Regarding sub-factors of social competence, in regulation of emotion, peer-relation skills and comprehension of social rule showed significant differences according to the developmental self-esteem level(regulation of emotion: p<.01, peer-relation skills: p<.01, comprehension of social rule: p<.01).
