국문 초록

본 논문은 급속히 발전하는 인공지능 기술의 도전 앞에서 기독교 신학이 어떠한 응답을 제시할 수 있는지를 고찰한다. 특히 하나님의 형상이라는 고전적 신학 개념을 중심으로, 인공지능 시대에 인간 존재의 본질과 존엄에 대한 신학적 재해석을 시도한다. 먼저 인공지능의 개념과 기술적 발전 단계를 협소인공지능(ANI), 일반인공지능(AGI), 초인공지능(ASI)으로 구분하여 설명한 후, 이에 따른 인간 정체성의 위기와 신학적 함의를 분석한다. 이어서 하나님의 형상에 대한 전통적 해석(실체적, 기능적, 관계적 해석)을 소개하고, 각각의 해석이 인공지능 논의와 어떻게 접점 또는 긴장을 가지는지를 검토한다. 나아가 마리우스 도로반투(Marius Dorobantu)의 논의를 바탕으로 인간의 취약성을 하나님의 형상의 본질적 표현으로 이해하는 새로운 관점을 제시하며, 인간과 인공지능의 차이를 기술적 성능이 아닌 존재론적 구조에서 파악할 것을 제안한다. 더 나아가 본 논문은 인공지능 사용과 발전이 단순히 기술적 문제를 넘어, 인간의 죄성과 타락, 그리고 책임 있는 사용과 같은 신학적, 윤리적 성찰을 필수적으로 요구한다는 점을 논증한다. 특히 인공지능이 제기하는 새로운 도덕적, 사회적 도전 앞에서, 기독교 신학은 인간의 한계와 취약성을 인정하는 동시에, 성육신하신 하나님 안에서 드러난 인간의 참된 가치와 존엄을 회복하도록 요청한다. 결론적으로 본 논문은 하나님의 형상 개념을 통해 인간의 독자성과 관계적 존재성을 회복하며, 인공지능과의 공존 속에서 기독교 신학이 제공할 수 있는 비판적 통찰과 윤리적 방향성을 모색한다.

영문 초록

This study explores how Christian theology can respond to the challenges posed by the rapid development of artificial intelligence. Focusing on the classical theological concept of the image of God, it seeks to reinterpret the essence and dignity of human existence in the age of AI. The paper first outlines the concept and stages of AI development—Artificial Narrow Intelligence (ANI), Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), and Artificial Super Intelligence (ASI)—and examines the resulting crisis of human identity and its theological implications. It then introduces the traditional interpretations of the image of God—substantive, functional, and relational—and considers how each interpretation connects with or stands in tension with current debates on AI. Building on the work of Marius Dorobantu, the paper proposes a new perspective that views human vulnerability as an essential expression of the image of God, suggesting that the difference between humans and AI should be understood not in terms of technical performance but in terms of ontological structure. Furthermore, the study argues that the development and use of AI cannot be treated as merely technical issues but require theological and ethical reflection on human sin, fallenness, and responsible use. In the face of the moral and social challenges raised by AI, Christian theology is called to affirm human limitation and vulnerability while recovering the true value and dignity of humanity revealed in the incarnate God. Ultimately, the paper contends that the concept of the image of God provides a framework for reclaiming human uniqueness and relational existence, while also offering critical insights and ethical direction for coexistence with artificial intelligence.
