국문 초록

본 연구는 경계선 지능(Borderline Intellectual Functioning, BIF) 학생들의 다중지능 특성을 규명하고, 이를 기반으로 미술 활동 설계의 방향성을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 공식적으로 BIF 판정을 받은 초등학생 88명과 중학생 28명을 포함한 총 116명의 학생이다. 본 연구에서는 BIF 학생들의 다중지능 영역별 수준이 학교급과 성별에 따라 차이가 있는지, 소그룹 이상의 지도시 효율적 지원 방안 모색을 위해 다중지능 프로파일에 따라 어떠한 집단으로 구분될 수 있는지를 탐색하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 학교급에 따라 다중지능 영역별 유의한 차이가 나타났으나 성별에 따른 차이는 발견되지 않았다. 둘째, BIF 학생들은 단일한 특성을 지닌 집단이 아니었으며, 다중지능 프로파일에 따라 이질적인 세 개의 군집으로 구분되었다. 군집 A는 다중지능 점수가 2점대(평균 이하)에 머물러 전반적으로 낮은 발달 수준을 보였다. 군집 B는 3점대 초중반(평균 수준)에 분포하며, 신체운동지능, 음악지능, 인간친화지능 영역에서 상대적인 강점을 보였다. 군집 C는 1~2점대 초반의 매우 낮은 점수대를 보여 전반적인 인지 및 행동발달에서 어려움을 겪을 가능성이 나타났다. 이러한 군집별 다중지능 특성을 바탕으로, 본 연구는 BIF 학생들을 위한 미술 활동 설계 방향을 제안하였다.

영문 초록

This study investigates the multiple intelligence (MI) characteristics of students with Borderline Intellectual Functioning (BIF) and proposes directions for designing art activities based on these findings. The participants were 116 students officially diagnosed with BIF, comprising 88 elementary school students and 28 middle school students. The study examined whether the levels of MI domains among BIF students differed by school level and gender, and further explored how these students could be classified into subgroups according to their MI profiles to identify effective support strategies in group instruction. The results revealed the following: First, significant differences were observed across MI domains by school level, while no differences were found by gender. Second, BIF students did not constitute a homogeneous group; rather, three heterogeneous clusters emerged based on their MI profiles. Cluster A showed generally low developmental levels, with MI scores remaining in the 2-point range (below average). Cluster B, located in the low-to-mid 3-point range (average), demonstrated relative strengths in bodily-kinesthetic, musical, and interpersonal intelligences. Cluster C exhibited very low scores in the early 1-2 point range, suggesting substantial difficulties in cognitive and behavioral development. Drawing on these cluster-specific MI characteristics, this study proposes pedagogical directions for art activity design tailored to the needs of BIF students.
