국정과제 이후 가야고고학 연구 경향과 질적 고찰 - 2024년도 KCI 등재 가야고고학 논문을 중심으로

국문 초록

본 연구는 2017년 ‘가야사 복원’이 국정과제로 채택된 이후(2018~2024년) 가야고고학 분야에서 발표된KCI 등재 논문을 분석함으로써, 최근 가야고고학의 연구 경향과 질적 변화를 종합적으로 고찰하는 데 목적이 있다. 총 200여 편에 달하는 논문을 대상으로 연도별 발표 추이, 등재지 및 연구자 소속기관 분포, 연구 주제와키워드 네트워크 등을 정량·정성적으로 분석하였다. 그 결과, 고분, 철기, 토기를 중심으로 한 실증적 연구가 여전히 높은 비중을 차지하고 있으며, 특히 장제의례, 무기체계, 성곽, 대외교류망 등 정치체의 구조와 위계에 대한 분석이 심화되고 있음을 확인하였다. 최근에는 정체성, 연맹체, 생활유적, 여성 등 사회문화적 주제로의 확장과 함께 과학기법과 디지털 인문학 기반의 연구 방법도 점차 도입되고 있다. 그러나 연구 주제와지역의 편중, 반복적인 접근방식, 이론적 해석의 미비 등도 여전히 한계로 지적된다. 본 논문은 이러한 분석을 바탕으로 향후 가야고고학이 나아가야 할 방향으로 연구 주제의 다양화, 지역 간균형 있는 접근, 학제 간 융합과 방법론의 고도화를 제언하였다. 이는 가야사의 입체적 복원을 위한 이론적토대를 제공함과 동시에 고대 동아시아 속 가야의 정체성을 새롭게 규명하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This study aims to comprehensively examine the research trends and qualitative changes in Gaya archaeology from 2018 to 2024, following the designation of “Gaya History Restoration” as a national agenda in 2017. An analysis of approximately 200 KCI-registered articles was conducted, focusing on publication trends by year, academic journals, authors' institutional affiliations, research topics, and keyword networks through both quantitative and qualitative methods. The results indicate that empirical studies on burial mounds, ironware, and pottery remain dominant, while more in-depth analyses have emerged regarding political systems, funerary rituals, weaponry, fortifications, and external exchange networks. Recent research also reflects an expansion toward sociocultural themes such as identity, confederate polities, habitation sites, and gender, alongside the gradual adoption of scientific techniques and digital humanities methods. However, limitations remain, including topic and regional bias, repetitive research approaches, and insufficient theoretical interpretations. Based on these findings, this study proposes future directions for Gaya archaeological research, emphasizing thematic diversification, balanced regional exploration, interdisciplinary integration, and methodological advancement. These efforts are expected to lay a theoretical foundation for a more comprehensive restoration of Gaya history and contribute to redefining Gaya's identity within the broader context of ancient East Asia.
