위세품으로 본 진·변한 목관묘 집단

국문 초록

이 글은 위세품은 목관묘 집단의 정체성과 정치·경제적 위상을 반영하는 핵심 지표라는 전제에서 이를중심으로 진·변한 목관묘 집단의 일면을 살펴본 것이다. 먼저 목관묘의 분포와 자연·지리 조건을 고려하여 분지 단위로 14개의 지역권을 설정하였다. 그리고 목관묘 단계 위세품의 정의와 계통 분류를 시도하고, 이를 바탕으로 지역 양상을 살펴보았다. 그 결과, 각 위세품의 출현시점과 존속기간이 지역마다 다르고, 일부 위세품은 특정 지역에 한정되거나 확인되지 않는 등 지역별로 다소 상이하다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 차이는 경제적 차이에서 비롯되었을 가능성도 있지만, 공통된 문화 속에서도 각 집단이 자신들의 정체성을 표현하려는 의도가 반영된 결과로 보았다. 또한 위세품의 시·공적 분포 변화를 통해 목관묘 집단의 세력 동향을 살펴보았는데, 초기는 금호강 유역과 고대산만, 후기는 경주 분지와 고김해만에서 위세품 부장이 집중된다. 이는 해당 지역들이 시기별로 큰세력을 형성하였고, 동시기 다른 지역은 상대적으로 작은 세력을 형성하였다는 것을 시사하는 것으로 보았다. 아울러 동시기 한 분지 내에 전한경을 부장한 복수의 집단이 공존하고, 위세품의 재질·형태·크기에서뚜렷한 차별성은 확인되지 않는다. 즉, 목관묘 단계는 집단 간 세력의 우열은 존재했으나, 정치적으로 대등한 복수의 집단들이 다핵적인 권력 구도를 이루고 있었던 것으로 해석하였다.

영문 초록

This article examines one aspect of the wooden coffin tomb group that has changed over time, focusing on the premise that prestige goods is a key indicator reflecting the identity and political and economic status of the wooden coffin tomb group. First, considering the distribution of wooden coffin tombs and natural and geographical conditions, 14 regional areas were established as basin units. Then, the definition and classification of the prestige goods at the wooden coffin tomb stage were attempted, and regional aspects were examined based on this. As a result, it was found that the time of appearance and duration of each prestige goods were different in each region, and some prestige goods were limited to certain regions or were not confirmed, so there were some differences by region. These differences may have originated from economic differences, but it was seen as a result of each group's intention to express their own identity within a common culture. In addition, we examined the power trends of the wooden coffin tomb group through changes in the spatial and temporal distribution of prestige goods. In the early period, prestige goods were concentrated in the Geumho River basin and Godaesan Bay, and in the later period, in the Gyeongju Basin and Gogimhae Bay. This suggests that these regions formed large powers at different times, while other regions formed relatively small powers at the same time. In addition, multiple groups that buried Jeon Han-gyeong coexisted in the same basin at the same time, and no clear differences were found in the material, shape, or size of the items of prestige goods. In other words, it was interpreted that the wooden coffin tomb stage had a hierarchy of power among groups, but that multiple politically equal groups formed a multi-nuclear power structure.
