조선시대 고기잡이와 생존·생계 - 공유지 천택(川澤)의 선물

국문 초록

연구실 앞 천잠 연못의 청둥오리가 수영하는 모습을 보여주거나 잉어로 보이는 물고기가 뛰어오르면서 공연료를 내라는 법도 없다. 그렇지만 뻔히 보이는 가물치나 자라를 잡을 수는 없다. 교칙에 어긋나기 때문이다. 예전 같았으면 잡아먹었을 텐데……. 동시에 서곡공원, 천잠로, 천잠산 어느 곳에서도 통행세를 받지 않고, 아침 싸한 공기를 마신 비용을 지불하라고 청구하는 이도 없다. 동료 학자들의 격려와 학생들의 미소도 사는 데 소중하다. 청둥오리든, 오리든, 가물치든 우리에겐 공유지(commoms)와 그에 기초한 연대가 삭막한 상품 시장 사회의 바탕에 깔려 있거나 또 다른 생활양식으로 작동하고 있다. 물론 필자는 차를 타고 만경강을 건널 때나 서곡 삼천(三川)을 걸을 때 면 이미 잃어버린 자립성(自立性), 원시성(原始性)을 직감한다. 나는 더 이 상 저곳에서 붕어나 가물치를 맨손으로 움키지 못한다. 이제는 맨발로 저 더러운 개흙을 쑥쑥 밟지도 못하고, 저기서 멱을 감지도 못할 것이다. 내 몸은 2025년 버전으로 포맷되어 있다. 본고는 이런 불안감을 떨치고 희망을 현실화하기 위한 노력이다. 조선 시대 사람인 오희문이 피난살이 기간 분명 생존에 기여했을 자원인 물고기를 낚았던 홍주(洪州), 임천(林川)의 개천, 이유태가 금강(錦江) 강가에 만들었을 양어장, 정약용이 백성들에게 돌려주어 이용할 수 있게 하고 싶었던 연못, 서유구가 포괄적으로 소개하고자 했던 양어와 어로는 저기 보이는 만경강, 삼천과 닿아 있다. 과거는 다시 반복되지 않을 것이다. 19세기 이래, 아니 이전부터 인간의 문명은 사유재산을 확대해왔고, 그 바탕에서 사유재산의 신화(神話)와 이데올로기가 작동하였다. 공유지(commons)는 사유재산과 대립하기도 하고 보완하기도 하였다. 동시에 사유재산의 이데올로기에도 불구하고 인류의 문명은 끊임없이 그 이상의 공유 자산과 영역을 창출해왔다. 이를 새로운 안전망의 가능성이라고 생각하지 않을 이유가 있을까? 어떻든 지구라는 대지(大地)는 인간의 사유(私有) 욕구가 감당하지 못할 만큼 넓고, 인간이 원하든 말든 같이 쓸 수 있는 대지의 선물이 더 많은 듯하다.

영문 초록

When I see a mallard duck swimming or a crucian carp running in front of the lab, I don't pay performance fees. However, I cannot catch a snakehead or a turtle that I can see clearly. This is because it is against the school rules. In the past, people would have eaten it……. At the same time, no one in Seogok Park, Cheonjam-ro, or Cheonjamsan Mountain is charged to pay for breathing in the cold air in the morning without receiving tolls. Encouragement from fellow scholars and smiles from students are also valuable. Whether it is a mallard duck, a duck, or a smile, our communities and solidarity are based on a desolate commodity market society or operate as another lifestyle. Whenever I drive across the Mangyeong River or walk through Samcheon Stream in Seogok, I sense the self-reliance and primitiveness that have already been lost. I can no longer catch snakefish with my bare hands there. I can no longer walk barefoot on that dirty dog soil or wash my hands there. My body is formatted as 2025 version. This paper is an effort to dispel such anxiety and make hope a reality. Hongju, Imcheon where Oh Hee-moon, a Korean during the Joseon Dynasty, caught fish that must have contributed to his survival during the evacuation period, a fish farm that Lee Yoo-tae would have made along the Keumkang River, a pond that Jeong Yak-yong wanted to return to the people so that they could use it, and the fish and fish that Seo Yu-gu wanted to comprehensively introduce are in contact with the Mangyeong River and Samcheon River. The past will not be repeated again. Since the 19th century, or even before, human civilization has expanded private property, and the myth and ideology of private property have operated on the basis of it. Commons have also opposed and supplemented private property. At the same time, despite the ideology of private property, human civilization has constantly created more shared assets and territories. Is there a reason not to think of this as the possibility of a new safety net? In any case, the earth of Earth is so wide that human desire for private property cannot handle it, and there seem to be more gifts from the earth that humans can share whether they want it or not.
