경호학의 학문적 정체성 확립에 관한 연구

국문 초록

물질만능주의로부터 파생된 인간 경시 풍조와 현대사회의 병폐, 치안환경의 변화, 범죄로부터의 두려움 증가, 불안전과 불확실성으로부터 안전한 사회에 살고 싶어 하는 시민사회의 요구는 ‘경호학’을 발전시키는 요인으로 작용하고 있다. ‘경호학’은 위험으로부터 경호대상자를 안전하게 보호하기 위한 안전활동에 관한 체계적 지식이다. 즉, 복잡 다변화된 사회현상 속에서 경호에 관련된 다양한 현상들을 과학적으로 탐구하는 종합적 학문이다. ‘경호학’ 연구는 1960년대 후반 최초로 경호 관련 학위논문을 작성한데서 시작되었다. 1990년대 중반에는 대학 학부과정에 처음 ‘경호학과’가 신설되었고 이후 급성장하여 현재는 50여개 대학에 관련학과가 개설되어 운영 중이며, 대학원에 석사 및 박사과정도 개설되어 경호 전문가 및 경호학자들을 배출하고 있다. 그러나 ‘경호학’이라는 학문은 학문적 정체성 확립에 어려움을 격고 있다. 이를 위해서는 학문분야로서의 위치를 확립하는 것이 최우선의 과제이다. 현재 한국연구재단 학술연구분야분류표에는 ‘경호학’이 설정되어 있지 않다. 따라서 ‘경호학’의 학문적 위치와 분류에 대한 경호학자들의 의견을 수렴하여 학술연구분야에 ‘경호학’을 신설하기 위한 심층적인 연구가 필요하였다. 이 연구는 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 연구이다. 또한 학술연구분야분류표의 개정 시 기초자료로도 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 이 연구는 문헌연구를 기초로 연구수행 하였다. 더불어 경호학의 학문적 정체성을 확립하기 위한 과제로, 선행연구에서 제기된 ‘경호학의 연구분야 분류(안)’을 토대로 전국 경호학자들의 면담과 전문가 의견 조사지 작성·회수를 통해 경호학자들이 생각하는 ‘경호학’의 학문 분류(학술연구분야 편제)를 알아보고 그 대안을 논의하고자 하였다. 연구결과 학문분류 설정(안)에 대해 경호학자들의 의견은 ‘사회과학’ 66.34%, ‘복합학’ 24.75%, ‘예술체육’ 4.95%, ‘기타’ 3.96%로 조사되었다. 즉, ‘경호학’의 학문분류가 ‘사회과학’으로 설정되어야 함을 알 수 있다. 그리고 경호학 문헌을 통해 본 학문분류 또한 ‘경호학’은 여러 가지 사회현상을 이해하고 과학적인 탐구를 하는 ‘사회과학’의 영역으로 ‘경호학’을 이해하고 있으며, 내용적으로는 ‘복합적’인 것으로 이해하는바 ‘복합학’의 학문분류도 가능한 것으로 판단된다.

영문 초록

Citizens of contemporary society have a desire to live in a safe society through liberation from rampant Mormonism giving rise to the tendency of disrespect towards human beings, maladies of modern society, instability caused by changes in the security environment, fear of crime, insecurity and uncertainty. Such a desire is working as a factor in promoting and developing the 'Security Science'. 'Security Science' is a systematic knowledge of safety activities that aim to safeguard those being protected by security guards from dangers. In other words, Security Science is a comprehensive study that scientifically explores various circumstances associated with security in complex and diversified social phenomena. The 'Security Science' study began in the late 1960s, when the first security-related theses were written. In the mid-1990s, the first 'Security Science Department' was opened in undergraduate studies. Since then, the Security Science Department has been expanding rapidly. Currently, Security Science Department has been opened and operated in more than 50 universities. Furthermore, graduate schools have also opened master’s and doctoral programs in Security Science to produce security experts and security scientists. However, the study, called 'Security Science', is encountering difficulty in establishing its academic identity. For this purpose, top priority would need to be given to facilitating Security Science to establish its position as an academic field. Presently, 'Security Science' is not included in the academic research classification table of the National Research Foundation of Korea. Therefore, in-depth research needs to be carried out in order to integrate 'Security Science' into academic research field by gathering the opinions from the scholars of Security Science with respect to the academic position and classification of 'Security Science'. This study was intended to promote resolution of such problems. Additionally, the results of this study would provide basic data for revising the classification table of academic research areas in the period ahead. This study was conducted based on literature review. As a task to establish the academic identity of Security Science, this study was intended to examine the academic classification (academic research field organization) as opined by the scholars of Security Science and discuss alternative solutions through preparation and collection of questionnaires and interview with scholars of Security Science nationwide on the basis of the classification (draft) of research area related to Security Science which was presented by preceding studies. The results of this study showed that the scholars of Security Science considered the Security Science categorized as social science by 66.34%, complex study by 24.75%, art and physical education by 4.95%, and others by 3.96% in connection with the inclusion of Security Science in the academic classification (draft). In other words, it showed that the Security Science would need to be classified into the academic category of social science. In addition, the Security Science was found to be considered as part of the realm of social science aiming to promote understanding of various social phenomenon and scientific exploration in terms of academic classification based on literatures on Security Science. As the Security Science is regarded as a complex study in terms of substance, it is also considered that it can be classified into academic category of complex study.
