난폭운전에 관한 연구

국문 초록

이 연구에서는 난폭운전을 중심으로 실증분석을 통해 그 실태를 진단하고 이에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 분석해 보았다. 선행연구들을 통해 난폭운전의 개념과 영향요인들을 식별한 후 대학생 332명을 대상으로 설문자료를 수집하여 분석에 활용하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 먼저, 난폭운전은 ‘의도적으로 다른 사람에게 위해를 야기하는 운전행위’로 정의할 수 있다. ‘의도’ 개념의 한계를 현행 법령은 행위의 복수성과 반복성을 통해 절충하고 있으나 이에 대한 광범위한 홍보 노력이 필요함을 알 수 있다. 다음으로, 연구대상자들의 난폭운전 수준은 경미한(M=1.92) 상태였으나 배경특성에 따라 조금씩 차별적인 수준임을 확인하였다. 구체적으로 운전경력이 오래된 학생들이, 운행거리가 먼 장거리 운전자들이, 그리고 과태료 부과 처분 경험이 있는 학생들이 보다 난폭하게 운전하고 있었다. 다음으로, 운전분노가 경미한 수준(M=2.39)으로 나타난데 반해 자신들의 운전기술(M=3.35)과 안전운전(M=3.72) 능력 모두에 대하여는 보통(M=3.00)보다 양호하게 평가하고 있었다. 선행연구들과 같이 운전분노는 6요인구조로 나타났고 개별 상황에서의 운전분노 수준 또한 차별적이었다. 마지막으로, 운전분노 수준과 운전관련 능력들에 대한 평가는 운전자의 난폭운전에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 요인임을 확인할 수 있었다. 구체적으로 운전분노 수준이 높을수록, 운전기술에 대한 평가가 양호할수록, 그리고 안전운전에 대한 인식수준이 낮을수록 보다 난폭하게 운전하게 될 것임을 알 수 있다. 이와 같은 연구결과를 토대로 향후 난폭운전에 대한 효율적 대응방안과 함께 후속 연구방향 등에 대하여 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

This study empirically analyzed the actual conditions and the influencing factors of aggressive driving in Korea. Through the preceding researches, the concept and influencing factors of the aggressive driving were identified and the questionnaire date were collected and analyzed for 332 college students. The results are as follow. 1) Aggressive driving can be defined as ‘driving behavior that intentionally causes harm to another driver or person on the road’. The concept of ‘intention’ has its limitations, and current laws compromise through the multiplicity and repeatability of action. It can be seen that extensive public relations efforts are required. 2) The level of aggressive driving was mild(M=1.92), but it was slightly different according to background characteristics. Specifically, students with long driving experiences, drivers with long distances, and students with fines were driving more aggressively. 3) The driving anger was rated at a mild level(M=2.39), but was better than normal for both their driving skills(M=3.35) and safe driving ability(M=3.72). As in previous studies, driving anger showed a six-factor structure and driving anger level in individual situations was also discriminatory. 3) The driving anger and the evaluation of driver’s driving related abilities was found to be a factor affecting driver’s aggressive driving. Specifically, it can be seen that the higher the level of driving anger, the better the evaluation of the driving skill, and the lower the perceived level of safe driving, the more aggressive the driving will be. Based on the results of this study, some effective measures against the aggressive driving and directions of the follow-up research have been suggested.
