국문 초록

This study explores the academic and practical potential of PJBL models centered on regional culture through a comprehensive analysis of 81 PJBL-related articles published in domestic academic journals between 1995 and April 2025. Using multi-layered analyses—including classification by year, research type, subject, topic, keyword frequency, semantic network, and CONCOR cluster analysis—this study identifies key trends, thematic structures, and structural gaps in the existing literature. Findings confirm that PJBL research in Korea has notably expanded over the past decade, focusing mainly on enhancing learner competencies such as creativity, problem-solving, self-directed learning, and collaboration. However, topics like regional community engagement, regional culture content development, and practice-oriented project design remain marginal and are addressed only in limited case studies. Compared with earlier research, which emphasized classroom-level instructional design and educational effectiveness, this study advances the field by underscoring the need for theoretical frameworks and design models that integrate regional and practical dimensions. Based on these results, it offers three key implications: first, clearer conceptual distinctions between PJBL and related models (e.g., problem-based learning) and robust theoretical foundations for regional-culture-based instructional design; second, the development of PJBL models in local universities that enable students to explore regional identities, resources, and social issues creatively, translating them into meaningful outputs; and third, the need for institutional support and collaborative frameworks between universities and regional organizations to sustain and expand PJBL practices.
