국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 스포츠 영화가 시대의 감정구조와 사회적 의미를 감각적으로 구성하는 장르적 실천임을 밝히는 데 목적이 있다. 1960년대부터 스포츠 영화는 권투와 같은 종목을 중심으로 신체의 규율과 근대적 윤리를 시각적으로 조직하였다. 1970년대에는 산업화와 군사주의 문화가 결합해 단련된 신체를 중심으로 한 서사가 중심축이 되었다. 이 시기 영화는 개인의 성장을 공동체의 승리와 동일시하며 스포츠를 집단 감정의 매개 장치로 활용하였다. 1980년대에 이르러 이러한 구조는 보다 복합적인 양상으로 변화한다. 1997년 IMF 경제위기와 2002년 한일 월드컵은 스포츠 영화에 많은 변화를 가져다주었다. 사회적 붕괴와 정서적 무력감은 기존의 승리 중심 구조를 약화하고 회복과 위로, 연대의 감정이 중심이 되는 서사로의 이행을 촉발했다. 2000년대 중반 이후에는 젠더, 장애, 계급 지역성 등 비가시화된 정체성이 스포츠 영화의 중심으로 진입하여 장르의 경계를 확장하였다. 이 시기 영화는 공동체성과 포용성을 중심으로 새로운 구조를 구축하였고, 이는 스포츠 영화가 더 이상 영웅적 승리 서사에 구속되지 않고 사회적 타자를 윤리적으로 재현하는 장르로 진화하고 있음을 시사한다. 동시대 스포츠 영화는 공정성과 능력주의, 제도적 불균형과 같은 요소를 영화 내부로 포섭하여 스포츠가 동시대 사회의 갈등과 긴장을 중재하고 재구성하는 시각적장치로 작동하고 있다. 이처럼 한국 스포츠 영화는 시대의 가치와 욕망이 교차하는 문화적 실천의 장르로 꾸준히 진화해 왔다. 이러한 과정을 분석하는 것으로, 본 논문은 한국 스포츠 영화가 시대의 감정구조를 조직하고 공동체 윤리를 재구성하며 사회의 가치와 이상을 감각적으로 의미화하는 장르로 작동해 왔음을 밝힌다.

영문 초록

This study examines Korean sports films as a form of generic practice that sensuously constructs the structure of feeling and sociocultural meanings of each historical period. Since the 1960s, Korean sports films have visually organized bodily discipline and modern ethical values, particularly through sports such as boxing. In the 1970s, under the combined influence of industrialization and militaristic culture, narratives centered on the disciplined male body emerged as dominant, aligning individual growth with collective victory and utilizing sports as a vehicle for shared emotions. In the 1980s, this structure became more complex. The Korean Financial Crisis of 1997 and the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea-Japan brought significant transformations to the genre. The social collapse and emotional exhaustion of this era led to a shift from victory-oriented narratives to those centered on recovery, consolation, and solidarity. From the mid-2000s onward, previously marginalized identities—such as gender, disability, class, and regionality—entered the center of the genre, expanding its boundaries. Films of this period began to reconstruct new ethical frameworks based on community and inclusivity, signaling the evolution of sports films into a genre that no longer depends solely on heroic triumphs but ethically represents the social Other. Contemporary sports films incorporate discourses of fairness, meritocracy, and systemic inequality, repositioning sports as a visual device that mediates and reconfigures the tensions of modern Korean society. Through this trajectory, Korean sports films have continually evolved as a cultural practice where societal values and desires intersect. By analyzing this process, this paper demonstrates that Korean sports films function as a genre that organizes the structure of feeling, reconstructs communal ethics, and sensuously articulates the values and ideals of their time.
