노인 문화예술교육에서의 자기주도학습 활용과 해방적 학습 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 국내 노인문화예술교육이 노년층 삶의 질과 사회참여 촉진에 갖는 의의를 분석하고, 이를 극대화하기 위한 자기주도학습과 해방적 학습의 활용 방안을 모색했다. 2020년 이후 발표된 관련 문헌과 국내외 사례를 선정·검토한 결과, 노인문화예술교육은 단순 취미나 여가 차원을 넘어 노인 학습자 스스로 학습 목표와 과정을 설계·실행하는 자기주도적 접근을 통해 심리적 안정과 창의성, 건강 증진 등에 유의미한 효과를 보였다. 아울러 해방적 학습 관점을 결합할 경우, 노인이 자신의 경험과 사회구조적 억압을 비판적으로 성찰하고 변혁적 실천을 시도함으로써 개인적 치유와 공동체적 변화를 동시에 실현할 수 있음이 확인되었다. 그러나 전문 인력 및 교육 인프라 부족, 디지털 격차, 프로그램 다양성 미흡 등 현실적 제약 요소 역시 여전히 존재하여, 정부·지자체와 교육기관·지역사회가 긴밀히 협력해 제도적 기반을 확충하는 것이 시급하다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제 해결을 위해 노인문화예술교육의 맞춤형 프로그램 설계, 디지털 포용성 강화, 전문 인력 역량 제고, 장기적 정책 지원의 중요성을 제언하며, 향후 이를 기반으로 노인들이 자율성과 창의성을 극대화해 사회적 참여와 공동체 기여를 확대할 수 있는 환경 조성에 기여할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

This study analyzes the significance of senior cultural and arts education in enhancing the quality of life and promoting social engagement among the elderly in Korea, and explores strategies to maximize its impact by applying self-directed learning and transformative learning. A review of relevant literature and domestic as well as international case studies published since 2020 reveals that senior cultural and arts education, beyond simple leisure or hobby pursuits, exhibits meaningful effects on psychological stability, creativity, and health improvement when learners autonomously set and manage their own learning goals and processes. Furthermore, incorporating the perspective of transformative learning confirms that older adults can critically reflect on their experiences and social constraints, then undertake transformative actions, thereby simultaneously achieving individual healing and community-level changes. However, practical limitations persist, including shortages of specialized personnel and educational infrastructure, digital divides, and insufficient diversity in programs. Therefore, urgent collaboration among government, local authorities, educational institutions, and community stakeholders is required to strengthen the institutional foundation. To address these issues, this study underscores the importance of designing tailored programs, promoting digital inclusion, enhancing professional workforce capacity, and ensuring long-term policy support for senior cultural and arts education. Based on these efforts, the study anticipates contributing to an environment where older adults can maximize their autonomy and creativity, thereby expanding social engagement and community contributions.
