국문 초록

본 연구는 『西遊記』를 대상으로 지리정보시스템 기반 전자문화지도를 활용하는 방법을 모색하고자 하였다. 문헌 속 공간 정보와 실제 지형을 결합함으로써, 기존의 텍스트 중심 연구에서 한 걸음 나아가 문화·역사적 함의를 보다 입체적으로 해석할 가능성을 탐색하였다. 전자문화지도는 허구적 지명과 실제 지명의 연관성을 규명하고, 『西遊記』의 공간적 구성과 역사적 배경을 보다 체계적으로 분석하는 데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 학술 및 교육 분야에서 텍스트 중심 연구를 보완하는 시각적 자료로 활용될 수 있으며, 아울러, 전자문화지도의 축적된 데이터를 바탕으로 관광·게임·영화 등 문화산업과의 연계 가능성도 열려 있다. 본 연구는 GIS와 디지털 기술을 활용한 전자문화지도가 중국고전문학 연구에 새로운 접근법을 제시할 수 있다는 가능성을 제시한다. 『傳奇』

영문 초록

This study examines the application of GIS-based electronic cultural mapping in the analysis of Journey to the West (西遊記). By integrating textual spatial data with real-world geographical information, it moves beyond conventional text- centered approaches to offer a comprehensive cultural and historical interpretation. Utilizing digital tools such as DocuSky and Folium, this research enables scholars to independently collect, analyze, and visualize geospatial data, thereby expanding the possibilities for cultural content development and interdisciplinary inquiry. The electronic cultural map establishes connections between fictional and real-world locations, providing a systematic framework for analyzing the spatial composition and historical context of Journey to the West. Furthermore, it serves as a valuable visual resource for academic and educational purposes, complementing traditional literary analysis. The integration of GIS technologies into digital environments, including the metaverse, AR, and VR, enhances the potential for immersive learning and interactive cultural experiences. Additionally, the structured accumulation of geospatial data facilitates interdisciplinary applications in tourism, gaming, and film, broadening the scope of cultural heritage engagement. By demonstrating how GIS and digital methodologies enrich the study of Chinese classical literature, this research underscores the significance of electronic cultural mapping as an innovative and interdisciplinary approach. Future studies may build upon this framework, extending its applications to other literary traditions and cultural contexts, further advancing digital humanities and spatial literary analysis.
