교사의 순회지도와 특성이 수학 수업의 질에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 수학 수업에서 교사의 순회지도가 수업의 질에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 교사의 특성이 순회지도 전략과 수업의 질에 미치는 관계를 탐구하였다. 연구를 위해 16명의 교사가 진행한 32개의 수학 수업을 다양한 순회지도 유형과 수학 수업의 질 평가 도구를 활용하여 분석하였다. 탐구 방향 제시하기, 개념적 교정하기, 학생 아이디어 조사한 후 검증하기, 모둠 논의 촉진하기 같은 탐구 기반과 참여 촉진적 순회지도가 수업의 질을 향상시키는 데 긍정적 영향을 미쳤다. 반면, 절차적 설명하기, 학생 아이디어 조사 없이 검증하기, 사례 풀이 참고하기 같은 절차 중심의 순회지도는 부정적 영향을 미쳤다. 또한 교사의 가르침을 위한 수학적 지식의 수준이 높은 경우, 탐구 기반 전략을 더 효과적으로 활용하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 교사 교육에서 탐구 기반 순회지도 전략을 강화하는 것이 중요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study examines the impact of teachers' circulating moves on the quality of mathematics instruction and investigates the relationship between teachers' characteristics and the types of circulating moves. Data were collected from 32 mathematics lessons conducted by 16 teachers, coded using distinct circulating move types and the Mathematical Quality of Instruction (MQI) framework. Pearson correlation analysis explored the linear relationships between teacher characteristics—such as school level, gender, teaching experience, and mathematical knowledge for teaching (MKT) scores—and circulating move types. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted to predict specific MQI domains based on circulating moves, with ��² statistics assessing model fit. Principal axis factor analysis identified latent factors by extracting common variance among observed variables, while multivariate analysis of variance evaluated group differences in instructional quality, accounting for circulating move diversity and interrelated dependent variables. Results reveal that inquiry-based and participatory circulating moves, such as suggesting directions for inquiry, remediating conceptually, eliciting and validating student ideas, and facilitating small-group discussions, positively influence instructional quality. In contrast, procedural moves, such as explaining procedurally, validating student ideas without eliciting their reasoning, and showing exemplary solutions, negatively affect lesson quality. Teachers with higher MKT scores demonstrated greater effectiveness in employing inquiry-based and participatory circulating moves. These findings emphasize the need to prioritize inquiry-based circulating moves in teacher education programs to enhance the quality of mathematics instruction.
