성명(姓名)에 의한 개운론(開運論) 고찰

국문 초록

운명론은 타고난 운명을 바꿀 수 없는 정명론과 바꿀 수 있는 개운론으로구분도 되나, 두 개념을 포괄하는 양립가능론이다. 개운론은 적선, 중화, 명당 등도 존재하지만, 우리나라는 특히 1940년대 창씨개명 이후 성명에 의한개운론이 널리 퍼져있다. 세간에서 성명학의 기본이나 전제조건으로 성명 개운론을 강하게 주장하면서 성명학을 알리는데 많은 기여를 했지만, 한편으로는 미신이나 점술이라는 비판 역시 상당하다. 이에 작명가와 성명학자의 개명에 대한 시각을 광고와 문헌, 선행연구로 나누어 살펴보면, 상반된 위의 두 주장은 작명가들이 자신의 수입을 위한 과대광고의 확대 재생산으로 발생된 것으로 보일 뿐 옳다고 할 수는 없다. 개운의근원 등 관련 연구가 부족하고 개운정도 역시 낮아서 가능성은 낮지만 본고는 성명 개운론을 확인하고 검증하였다. 하지만 이 역시 비판받고 있기에 성명이 당사자에게 미치는 영향과, 작명 또한 우리의 의지가 포함된 노력의 결과물인 점을 반영하여 개운론 대신 성명의 영향 등을 사용하여 성명학의 학문적 정체성을 확립하는 것이 필요하다.

영문 초록

Fatalism can be classified into fate-fixed or fate-improving theories. Compatibilism embraces these two opposing concepts. The accumulation of good deeds, neutralization, and propitious sites exists in the fate-improving theory, especially in the fate-improving theory by full names, which has been widespread in Korea since Changsshigaemyeong in the 1940s. Asserting the strong fate-improving theory of full names as the basics or precondition of nameology contributed significantly to making widely it known to people. However, it has also attracted considerable criticism because it is associated with superstition or fortune-telling. Accordingly, examining namingers’ and nameologists’ views on renaming by dividing them into advertising, literature, and previous studies, the above two conflicting arguments appear to have been caused by namingers’ expansion and reproduction of exaggerated advertising for their own income; which is not right. Because there are insufficient studies related to the fate-improving origin and the fate-improving degree is low, the fate-improving possibility is also low; however, this study confirmed and verified the fate-improving theory through the use of full names. However, since this is also being criticized, it is necessary to establish the academic identity of nameology by using the influence of full names instead of the fate-improving theory, reflecting that full names and naming are also the result of these efforts.
