『공손룡자』의 위작 여부 연구 - 직하학파와 오행 사상을 중심으로

국문 초록

『공손룡자』의 위작 여부에 관해 『공손룡자』 전체가 위작이라는 주장과 일부만 위작이라는 주장, 그리고 위작이 아니라는 주장이 대립하고 있다. 이에 본 연구는 위작의 기준을 당대에 저술되었다고 간주할 수 없는 문헌으로 규정한 후, 다음 방법을 통해 『공손룡자』에서 공손룡 당대에 저술되었다고 간주할 수 없는 편이 무엇인지 파악한다. 첫째, 『공손룡자』에서 위작 시비가 있는 「적부」와 『공손룡자』의 후반부를 분석하여 「적부」와 「통변론」 청백 문답이 직하학파의 학풍에 기반을 둔 정치적 주장을 담고 있다는 공통점을 지적한다. 둘째, 「통변론」 청백 문답에서 언급되는 오행 사상을 분석한 후에 오행 사상의 변천, 그리고 史書에 기록된 추연과 공손룡의 관계를 고려하여 「통변론」 청백 문답은 공손룡 사후의 저작으로 추정하는 것이 합당하다고 판단한다. 본 연구는 이상의 과정을 통해 「통변론」 청백 문답을 공손룡 당대의 저작으로 간주하기 어렵다고 주장한다. 본 연구의 주장이 입증된다면 선행 연구에서 지적하는 『공손룡자』의 전반부와 후반부의 차이를 이해하는 것에 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 명실관계라는 명학의 본래 주제와 명실관계에 오행 사상을 접목한 정치적 주장을 구분함으로써 공손룡 당대 명학의 순수적 사유를 재검토할 수 있을 것이며, 문헌적으로는 「적부」와 『여씨춘추』 그리고 『공총자』의 관계 및 저술 순서를 추정하는 것에도 도움이 될 것이다.

영문 초록

The question of whether Gongsun Longzi is an authentic text remains a subject of scholarly debate, with opposing views arguing that the entire text is spurious, only certain sections are inauthentic, or that it is entirely genuine. This study defines spurious texts as those that cannot be considered contemporaneous with the era of Gongsun Long and seeks to identify which portions of Gongsun Longzi fail to meet this criterion. First, this study examines the disputed chapter “Jifu” and the latter half of Gongsun Longzi, identifying a shared feature: both “Jifu” and the blue-white dialogue (qingbai wenda) in “Tongbian lun” contain political arguments rooted in the intellectual tradition of the Zhixia School. Second, it analyzes the Five Elements theory as presented in the blue-white dialogue in “Tongbian lun”, taking into account the historical evolution of Five Elements theory and the recorded relationship between Zou Yan and Gongsun Long. Based on this analysis, the study concludes that the blue-white dialogue in “Tongbian lun” is better understood as a composition created after Gongsun Longzi’s time. Through this investigation, the study argues that the blue-white dialogue in “Tongbian lun” cannot be considered a work contemporaneous with Gongsun Longzi. If substantiated, this argument may provide insights into the previously noted differences between the first and the second halves of the Gongsun Longzi. Furthermore, by distinguishing between the School of Names’ original focus on the relationship between names and actualities and political arguments incorporating Five Elements theory, it becomes possible to reevaluate the pure philosophical thought of the School of Names during Gongsun Longzi’s era. From a textual perspective, this analysis may also contribute to clarifying the relationships and chronological order among “Jifu”, the Lüshi Chunqiu, and the Kongcongzi.
