그림책 철학수업에서 구현 가능한 미적 경험

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학생의 미적 경험을 극대화하기 위하여 초등학교 교실에서 활용할 수 있는 어린이철학 수업 교재로서 그림책의 가치를 밝히는 데 목적을 두고 있다. 연구자는 그림책과 어린이 철학을 연결하게 된 주요 매개 변수로 미적 경험을 중심으로 그림책과 어린이 철학이 가지고 있는 특성들을 살펴보고자 한다. 그림책은 그림과 이야기, 즉 예술과 문학이라는 형식을 이미 갖추고 있는 하나의 예술 작품이기 때문에 그 자체로서 독자들에게 강력한 미적 경험을 제공하고 있다. 이를 철학적 탐구공동체의 방법으로 풀어갔을 때 철학적 탐구공동체가 가지는 대화의 질성으로 인하여 학생들의 미적 경험을 배가시킬 수 있다. 이를 토대로 마지막 심화 표현 단계에서 그림책 표현 활동을 통한 예술적 경험을 함으로써 미적 경험을 한 번 더 체험할 수 있게 된다. 본 연구는 그림책을 통한 어린이철학 수업에서 구현 가능한 미적 경험이 무엇인지를 데스와르와 칸트, 듀이, 립맨 이론을 기반으로 살펴봄으로써 철학 수업 교재로서 그림책의 가치를 재조명해 보고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the value of picture books as teaching materials for children's philosophy classes in elementary school classrooms, with the aim of maximizing elementary students’ aesthetic experiences. Centering on aesthetic experience as a key mediating concept, the study investigates the characteristics of picture books and children's philosophy that enable their integration. As works of art that inherently combine images and narratives—forms of visual art and literature—picture books offer readers a powerful aesthetic experience in and of themselves. When approached through the methodology of the Community of Philosophical Inquiry, the dialogic quality of philosophical discussion can further enhance students' aesthetic engagement. Building upon this, students can experience a second layer of aesthetic engagement during the final, expressive stage through artistic activities based on picture books. This study seeks to re-evaluate the educational value of picture books as philosophical teaching tools by theoretically analyzing the aesthetic experiences possible within children's philosophy classes, drawing on the theories of Dewey, Kant, Dessoir, and Lipman.
