프랑스 철학교육사 속 어린이철학과 그 함의: 우리 어린이철학교육의 지향을 모색하며

국문 초록

이 글은 프랑스의 오랜 철학교육 역사를 바탕으로 프랑스 어린이철학의 동향을 살피고, 이를 통해 우리가 지향할 어린이철학의 방향을 모색하려는 데 목적이 있다. 데리다, 마슈레, GREPH, ACIREPh는 철학교육의 형식주의를 비판하며, 고등학교 이전부터 점진적으로 철학을 가르치는 ‘철학할 권리’를 주장했다. 이러한 비판 속에서 프랑스에서는 레빈의 AGSAS 철학 아틀리에와 토찌의 ‘철학 지향 토론(DVP)’ 같은 어린이철학이 대안으로 자리 잡았다. 이들은 립먼의 PfC를 참고하면서도 고유한 어린이철학을 발전시켰는데, 우리가 나아가야 할 방향 또한 철학교육에 충실하면서 창조적이고 주체적인 수용의 길에 있다.

영문 초록

This paper aims to explore the trends of philosophy for children in France in light of the country’s long-standing tradition of philosophy education, and, through this exploration, to consider and propose the direction we should pursue in philosophy education for children. Derrida, Macherey, GREPH, and ACIREPh criticized the formalism inherent in traditional philosophy education and argued for the “right to philosophize,” advocating for the gradual introduction of philosophy from earlier stages, even before the final year of high school. In response to such critiques, alternative forms of philosophy for children emerged in France, such as Lévine’s AGSAS philosophy workshops and Tozzi’s “philosophically oriented discussions (DVP).” While drawing on Lipman’s Philosophy for Children (PfC) program, these initiatives developed their own distinctive approaches. Likewise, the broad direction we should take lies in faithfully engaging with philosophy education while creatively and autonomously adapting it.
