국문 초록

This study examines performers’ perceptions of authenticity at the Gangneung Danoje, a representative cultural heritage festival in Korea. Through semi-structured interviews and Qualitative Content Analysis, the study explores how performers interpret authenticity in their roles and contributions. Guided by Wang’s framework, the findings reveal that performers perceive objective authenticity in the festival’s original form and lineage, existential authenticity in their emotional connections and audience engagement, and constructive authenticity in modern reinterpretations. The study concludes that balancing traditional preservation with contemporary adaptation is essential for the festival's sustainability and audience engagement.
