王振鵬이 그린 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣의 眞僞에 관한 고찰 - 그림의 序와 題跋을 중심으로

국문 초록

이 논문은 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣의 창시자에 관한 기존의 학설을 재검토하는 내용으로 이루어져 있다. 중국 고대의 가장 위대한 사상가이며 교육자로 추앙받는 공자를 그린 그림들은 일찍이 漢나라 때부터 시작되었으나, 대부분이 단편적인 사건을 그렸거나 공자의 影幀을 그린 것이었다. ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣는 이런 그림들과는 다르게 공자의 생애 중 의미 있는 사건들을 뽑아 여러 장으로 그린 일종의 위인 그림책 또는 위인 그림 두루마리라고 할 수 있다. 텍스트와 이미지가 결합된 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣의 창시자는 원나라의 王振鵬이라는 학설이 100여 년 전부터 거론되었는데, 최근 들어 반론이 제시되기 시작하였다. 1445년 鄧棨는 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣의 그림과 설명문 그리고 贊이 張楷에 의해 만들어졌다고 이야기했지만, 안타깝게도 이 자료는 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣의 창시자를 밝히는 자료로 사용되지 않아 왔다. 王振鵬이 창시자라는 설을 지지하는 선진 연구자들은 그림 뒤에 부착된 跋文을 주된 근거로 삼았는데, 그림에 적힌 설명문과 贊 그리고 跋文을 쓴 사람들의 생졸년 등을 자세히 살펴본다면, 현전하는 王振鵬의 ｢孔子聖蹟圖｣가 眞迹이 아니고 畫商들에 의해 만들어진 것일 수도 있다는 결론을 도출해 낼 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper is a re-examination of the existing theories about the creator of The Holy Map of Confucius(｢孔子聖蹟圖｣). Although paintings depicting Confucius, revered as the greatest philosopher and educator of Chinese antiquity, date from as early as the Han Dynasty, most of them depict episodic events or representations of Confucius. Unlike these paintings, The Holy Map of Confucius is a kind of great man's picture book or great man's picture scroll, which is a multi-page collection of meaningful events from Confucius' life. The theory that Wang Zhenpeng(王振鵬) of the Yuan Dynasty was the creator of The Holy Map of Confucius, which combines text and images, has been around for more than 100 years, but only recently has it been challenged. In 1445, Deng Chi(鄧棨) stated that the illustrations, descriptions, and Zan(贊) in the Holy Map of Confucius were created by Zhang Kai(張楷), but unfortunately, this source has not been used to identify the creator of The Holy Map of Confucius Advanced researchers who support the theory of Wang Zhenpeng's authorship have relied on the texts attached to the back of the painting as their main source of evidence, but If we carefully observe the explanatory text and Zan on the picture, and the years of birth and death of the people who wrote the postscrip, may lead to the conclusion that the extant Wang Zhenpeng's Confucius Saint Painting is not an authentic work and may be a forgery made by a craftsman.
