국문 초록

드골은 1960년대의 유럽통합 과정을 주도하면서 초국가적 연방국가라는 목적지를 가졌던 유럽통합의 방향을 정부간 협력의 국가연합이란 목적지로 수정하려고 시도했다. 물론 드골의 유럽정치는 일방적이고 독선적인 모습을 가졌고 다른 회원국들의 동의를 쉽게 얻지 못했다. 그 결과 1960년대 유럽통합은 긴장과 위기의 연속으로 이어졌다. 푸셰플랜을 통한 정치연합 창설 실패, 두 번에 걸친 영국의 유럽경제공동체 가입 거부, 공석의 위기 등 위기는 다양한 모습으로 나타났다. 이 글은 드골의 유럽정치를 설명하고 그의 유럽정치가 유럽통합사에 미친 영향을 살펴보려는 목적을 가지고 있다.

영문 초록

While leading the European integration process in the 1960s, General de Gaulle attempted to change the direction of European integration from the goal of a supranational federation to the goal of a confederation of intergovernmental cooperation. De Gaulle's European politics were one-sided and self-righteous, and it was not easy to obtain the consent of other member states. As a result, European integration in the 1960s led to a series of tensions and crises. The crisis took on various forms, including the failure to create a political union through the Fouchet Plan, the rejection of Britain's accession the European Economic Community twice, and the empty chair crisis. The purpose of this article is to explain de Gaulle's European politics and examine the impact of his European politics on the history of European integration.
