국문 초록

과학적 탐구에서의 사실과 가치 그리고 이론과 실천 문제에 대한 숙고는 비판적 지향의 교육연구를 적절하게 수행하기 위해 중요한 철학적 기초작업이다. 자연과학을 포함한 과학 일반의 과제를 인과적 설명으로 설정하는 비판적 실재론은 사회과학이 언제나 청중을 향한/위한 것이라고 여긴다. 이런 이유에서 사회과학은 대상을 인과적으로 설명하면서 허위의 담론과 그것을 발생시킨 원천을 부정적으로 평가해야 한다. 사회과학의 설명은 또한, 허위의 담론과 그 원천을 적절한 방향으로 변화시키기 위한 실천을 요청하고 뒷받침해야 한다. 비판적 실재론의 이러한 ‘설명적 비판의 이론’을 고려하면, 비판적인 경험과학적 교육연구는 교육현상에 대한 인과적 설명에 바탕을 두고, 관련된 허위의 교육적 담론과 그 원천에 대한 비판으로, 그리고 허위의 담론을 발생시킨 그 원천을 적절하게 변화시키기 위한 실천으로 나아가야 한다. 비판적 교육연구를 통해 도출된 적절한 지식이 적절한 실천을 대신할 수 있는 것은 아니지만, 그것은 적절한 교육으로의 변화를 위해 필수적인 조건이다.

영문 초록

To conduct critical-oriented educational research appropriately, deliberation on the issues of fact-value and theory-practice in scientific inquiry is an important philosophical groundwork. Critical realism, which sets the task of science in general as causal explanation, considers social sciences to be always directed toward/for an audience. Hence, social sciences must causally explain its subject while negatively evaluating the inappropriate discourse and the sources that generated it. The explanations should also request and support practices that transform false discourse and its sources in appropriate directions. Considering Bhaskar’s “theory of explanatory critique” of critical realism, critical research of empirical science of education should be based on causal explanations of educational phenomena, proceed with critique of the related false educational discourse and its sources, and practice to appropriately change the sources. While appropriate practice cannot be replaced by the appropriate knowledge derived from critical educational research, it is a necessary condition for the change toward appropriate education.
