고등학교 내신 평가의 성적 과대평가 가능성 모니터링을 위한 데이터 기반 실증적 방안 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 고등학교 성취평가 결과의 성적 과대평가 가능성을 점검할 수 있는 실증적인 방법을 탐색하고자 하였다. 구체적으로, 성취수준 비율과 과목 평균, 성취수준별 분할점수 등 고등학교의 내신 평가 결과 자료를 활용하여 성적 과대평가 가능성을 분석하여 이를 성취평가 결과 모니터링 지표로 활용하는 방안을 탐색하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 도출한 지표의 특성과 더불어, 성적 과대평가 가능성의 측면에서 단위학교의 평가 결과 양상을 파악하기 위한 자료 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과, 2022학년도 전국 단위학교 평가 결과 중 약 1~5% 가량은 성취수준 A 비율과 과목 평균이 일반적인 학교에 비해 매우 높고 A 분할점수가 낮게 설정되는 등, 성적 과대평가 가능성이 있는 것으로 의심되었다. 또한 성취수준 A 비율이 극단적으로 높게 나타난 단위학교 평가 결과들은 대체로 과목 원점수 평균이 매우 높거나 A 분할점수가 매우 낮은 특징이 있었다. 이러한 결과를 통해 성적 과대평가 현상의 방지와 성취평가제 내실화의 측면에서 성취평가 결과 모니터링 지표의 적용 방안과 관련한 시사점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to explore the risk of grade inflation in high school grading system from a data-driven empirical approach. Specifically, a series of indicators for detecting the risk of grade inflation were derived from high school assessment result data including there were related with the grade inflation such as achievement level ratio, GPA, and the cutoff score by achievement levels. Furthermore, data analysis was performed to identify the characteristics of the indicators derived from this study and to comprehend the the assessment results of the high school in terms of the risk for grade inflation. Consequently, approximately one to five percent of the result of the high school assessment during 2022 were classified as “cautionary” with regard to achievement assessment monitoring. These cases were displayed a high A grade level percentage and GPA, coupled with lower cutoff scores for A grade levels in comparison to those of typical high schools. Furthermore, the high school assessments in which an extremely high percentage of A grade level tend to be characterized as very high GPA or very low cutoff scores for A grade. Based on these results, the implications of applying indicators for monitoring achievement assessment were discussed in order to prevent the phenomenon of grade inflation and to reinforce the achievement standard-based assessment system.
